I came across this trend after watching Loic Prigent's FW 2010 documentary "Habilees." (highlights of the trend can be seen in the video starting at about 8:22)
I don't think this trend was noticeable at first, but looking back, I think we were all too distracted by camel coats and breasts to catch on to a very dark, very religious, very satanic trend throughout the season. Think Disney's Fantasia, "A Night on Bald Mountain" and "Ave Maria."
