Frame it...

/\ Yes! Quite right - affordable and easy to find!

guis - these frames also are very popular in tabletop versions - with the easel backing - for smaller prints - I also have used them to display diplomas (this has been a very popular with many of my clients). The effect is one of the 'floating' artwork.

Does it also come with sheets that cover the artwork on top..
Or it's just for framing ?

It sounds super convenient
and the black is very clean ^^

/\ Yes! Quite correct - both the poster wall hanging sizes and the tabletop 'easel' style are two pieces of plexi-glass (artwork placed between them) that are held in place by the four pieces of fitted black framing.

I hope you will find them workable for you! :flower:

i'm planning on just getting the frame w/out the back possibly some kind of valour or velvet-like material to staple onto the frame or just leave it bare in place of a canvas and hang my venetian masks...
:woot:

i will take a picture of the finish product and share with you all.
(perhaps, remind me from time to time. i tend to forget with my busy life and all)

has anyone made simple wooden frames? could you share and/or describe the process? Thank you :)

^ if you go to an art supplies store
they usually have individual wooden panels in various sizes ... it's used for screen printing / stencils
you can lock them together to fit your own pictures

it's a bit fragile, no? ...^ i used it to frame some things of mine
it's hard to cut perfectly and cleanly
and it creases easily.. well this one polystyrene sheets i had with gloss paper laminated to front and back

oh i was planning on using that type of frame for bordering only
i thought it comes pre-cut like wooden frames.

er only if we're thinking about the same material... polystyrene to me is..styrofoam ....

/\ This is what I was referencing - the black frame is actually 4 separate pieces of plastic edging that remove and fit back on again to form a precisely fitted 'frame' - the plexi-glass sheets, when you purchase this 'frame' are covered with protective layers of plastic film to protect it from scratching. They remove easily to reveal a very clean sheet of plexi-glass.

This type of frame permits one to use and reuse the frame as one's taste in art might change. Also, this frame manages to hide flaws on the print, such as creases or tiny tears.

The Michael's site indicated that the frames come in sizes from 18"X24" to 24"X36".

Hope this helps!:flower:

Ok I was just at Michaels and pretty sure I bought this
It is called "floatframe"
They only had the one with the easel backing, but it is possible to hang it on the wall using the same backing.
I love the fact it is transparent

Anyway it was more expensive than I thought
if it is just plexiglass. It was $16.99 for a 11x14 and $13.49 for a 8x10

They also had a similar frame, borderless (inserting artwork into two clear sheets) but it is only for the countertop as it has this ledge at the bottom. For this reason I did not buy it although it was much cheaper, a large size about $9
The frame is on a 45* or so angle.

^gotta love those, they're so inexpensive and available! I got a few from walgreens the other day..

What is Walgreens?
Is it like Wal-mart?
If you can get it at a large department store/discount store maybe I can find the same floatframe there too:o and cheaper

/\ 'Float frames' are very close to what I had described for posters - generally in smaller sizes and, yes you are quite correct - generally more expensive. The poster frames are 'edged' in black plastic 'framing' which serve to secure the poster between the two pieces of plexi-glass. - - I love floating frames also!

BTW - 'Walgreens' is a sort of pharmacy/cosmetics type store that also has a wide selection of basic supplies - including frames. They might be comparable to 'Rite Aid' if that store exists in your area.
