She was at DKNY, but not Herve Leger

Most of Russell's new favourites walked Leger. After BCBG I thought Frida was on his good side. One show doesn't mean anything, but she isn't really making a splash so far. I kind of think she's too cute for a lot of shows, phenomenal body aside. Expectations are/were so high, but the hype isn't really fair to Frida imo.

I don't think that we can already say that "Frida isn't living up to the expecations". I mean, okay she has only done two shows so far - but both of them were defenitely bigger ones. Moreover, she actually opened Chai. And there are still some other big names that are left for next week. Not to speak of the Europe shows!
I'm sure we'll see a lot more of Frida

^ It's about doing the right shows, though, not just big ones. That's what sets you up for a nice European season. Of course she's doing well, I'm just saying she isn't making an impact so far. That's why I hate the hype machine.

^That could be true in past seasons. There's something about this season so far that seems a bit off. The big names aren't at the forefront of each show. Those who were readily dominating the walkways midway in New York last season are barely seen now. One can certainly hope for quality. But given the world economy, sometimes it boils down to quantity. Expectations for new faces are always high, but we're too early in the season to speculate.

Hmm.. well, anyway I'm hoping the best for her: she's defenitely talented enough to go very far.

I have no doubts about Frida having a great first season. My point was rather that the hype builds up these crazy expectations, which makes me feel disappointed that she isn't Russell's darling and only doing the hottest key shows. Which is pretty sad and unfair. If it was another new face I'd be thrilled about DKNY, not to mention opening Richard Chai!! Just want to clarify that again so I don't seem like a total Debbie Downer
