i was watching the last two episodes of friends and saw that Rachel was carrying a Louis Vuitton Monogram tote (haha how fitting now being she's going to work for them! ;) ) I was wondering if anyone knew what bag it was? I hadn't recognized it, so i was curious. Thanks!! :flower:

    I wouldn't doubt it.
TV shows and movies use replicas of everything, since they're just "props"

How do you know it was fake? It was probably a vintage, special edition or discontinued. Just because you don't immediately recognize it from the newer models, doesn't mean it's a replica.

Well, I used to work for LV ~ I quit in 1995. :innocent: I'm not 100% sure it was fake, but a patch on any LV bag is *usually* a dead giveaway, unless you're talking about LV bags that were manufactured under a company called The French Company (I can't remember all the exact details) in the US a couple decades ago. I think I remember some of the bags had patches with the LV stamp on them & they are easily mistaken as fakes.

I'm no expert, but I thought it was fake because of how supple the bag seemed to be. It didn't seem to have any structure to it at all. I have the large Montsouris backpack and the canvass isn't that foldable - if that makes sense.

I know nothing about the bag...
but, she was flying to Paris to begin her new job at Louis Vitton, so it would be kinda sad if it were fake!

I really hate how t.v. shows and movies make fake designer bags, etc. It's annoying and makes them look cheap but heY! Jen Anniston prob has lots of real LV, or @ least has the money to have lots of REAL LV's!

i thought it looked like a vintage LV, mainly cuz the patch. a friend of mine has an LV portfolio she bought in the 80's at saks and it has the same shape patch on it. then again, i'm just guessing cuz i'm not an LV expert.

P.S. i KNEW someone was gonna bring this up! i was thinking the same exact thing when i was watching and i thought "i bet someone on the fashion spot . . . "

i once read they use fake bags at shows that are filmed in front of a live audience to avoid "losing" them :innocent:

I wonder, If Louis Vuitton was mentioned on the show, isn't that some sort of advertising? I would think that Louis Vuitton would ensure that the bag represented was authentic.

oh goodness! i was thinking the EXACT same thing when i was watching it...sadly, i even asked my bf if he thought it was fake. the handles and all the other leather on the bag is a nice golden orangish brown (like my mom's oldold speedy - and like how my newer speedy is becoming) it looks very vintage and i would say authentic...to me. but i'm no expert.

to me it seems real cuz look at the buckles on the handles. that seems to special of a decoration for people to make fakes of. ya know what i mean? like it looks designed too nicely to be a fake.
