How Much Fashion Brands Pay For Celebrities To Sit In Their Front Rows

Carolina Herrera and Marc Jacobs have virtually banned celebrities from their front rows.

But when it comes to labels such as Miss Sixty and Rock & Republic, it seems like the more A, B and even C-list stars they can get, the merrier.

We tapped industry insiders to break down the cost of putting of celebrity in your front row by class of star.

    A-List
    Rihanna ($100,000 or more)
    Beyonce ($80,000-$100,000)
Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen ($80,000 each)
    Julianne Moore ($60,000)
    Maggie Gyllanhal ($60,000)
    Chloe Sevigny ($60,000 or more)
    Jennifer Lopez (circa 2005: $80,000; circa 2010: $30,000)
Lindsay Lohan (circa 2006: $60,000; circa 2010; UNINVITED)
Colin Firth (pre-A Single Man: $5,000; post-A Single Man: $15,000)

    B-List
    Blake Lively ($50,000)
    Leighton Meester ($40,000)
    Hillary Duff ($40,000)
Other Gossip Girl cast members ($25,000 a piece)
    Jared Leto ($25,000)
    Cliven Owen ($10,000)
Kristen Bell (unpaid, but airfare, makeup and clothing are taken care of)

    C-List
    Kim Kardashian ($35,000-$50,000)
    Amanda Bynes ($25,000-$30,000)
Eliza Dushku (unpaid, but airfare, makeup and clothing are taken care of)

    D-List

    Paris Hilton (free or UNINVITED)
    Jersey Shore cast (UNINVITED)
America’s Next Top Model Winners (free)

 So now we know when a celeb starts heaping praise at the designer, it might just be because they got paid lots to attend the show :innocent: .This is so cuh-razeee! Celebs want to design clothes, get free clothes and paid to be there.

I would believe that about Chloe.

I mean she is seen as "edgy" when it comes to fashion, so if designers want her at the show and she is photographed, it instantly gives them that "edge".

I am shocked Rihanna gets more than Beyonce!!! I know she is out there though - more so that Beyonce...

Jared Leto B-List? How dare they?

And I'm shocked about Rihanna... 100 grand for just popping up to sit in the front row. Wow!

I wonder how much Kanye West gets?

But I consider none of these brands (Juicy and R&R) as fashionable or anything, so they can throw their money down the walking billboard drain as much as they like. If it wasn't for celebrity advertising they would have gone bankrupt a loooong time ago.

What is in it for the designers? Are they hoping for some form of quid pro quo and the star will wear their looks on the red carpet? My initial thought was publicity and while I won't rule that out, do the fashion and entertainment media cover the front row? I have seen coverage of who sat on the front row in Vogue/style.com, WWD, Elle, nymag, et. al., but the fashion show was already being covered and who sat on the front row was not a major part of the article. In recent memory, the only time I recall a design house getting additional coverage because a celebrity was in attendance was Rihanna at last season's shows. The only other person I can see generating publicity is Kim Kardashian because, say what you want about her, she will do things like Tweets or post pictures and commentary on her blog.

So I go back to my original point, I suspect the primary motive is they are hoping that the star will see something she or he likes and wear it on the red carpet.

    ^that's what I wonder!

It really bothers me that some get paid so much. I even find travel compensation wrong but I can see it that the brands need the celebs to help get buzz and compensation to get there is more realistic/understandable. But to then pay some $100,000?

The stars must then be practically in contract to wear some of the designer at events.

Can I at least get a place in the front row? I wouldn't even ask for money.

I guess there also are stars who have to attend shows, in case they're their face or they have a contract with the brand.

I hope there is someone left who attends these shows for free and just enjoy watching.
