Frosted make-up

Oh, Tilda. The icy eyes, those frosted lips, the whole darn ethereal look you're working, it's so next season. You make it seem so easy. Is it any wonder there is a sudden rush on frosted make-up across the land? All of a sudden, otherwise sane women are reaching for chilly whites, pinks and blues. They know not what they do. Frosted make-up is not for the shaky of hand or wonky of brush. It must be applied with precision and boldness. Wear it like you mean it or it'll look a hideous mistake.

Apply as little base as possible, then have a play. The eyes are the easiest place to wear frosted colours, and the most important thing is layering. You want to end up with a block of colour that also has depth. Apply shadow, with a brush, over the entire eye area, right up to the lash line. Wet your brush and draw a line of colour along the bottom lash line. Next apply black mascara (but not eye liner). A dusting of shadow to the tips of your lashes gives the full Narnia look, but it's best to keep the lips simple, either with a touch of balm or a gloss with a hint of iridescence. Turkish delight anyone?

I love the look , but I need some practice at it, gotta start playing around in makeup again!

I'm not a huge fan of it. Well, I think it looks good on pale people, but on me since I'm asian and not porcelain colored, it makes me look sort of like a ganguro girl instead:

Which isn't exactly the same look...

Some make up is for runaway only, and this frostbite thing is for sure....

People have to realize that what works on runway doesn´t work in real life, so all you can do is to adapt whatever you like but do some adjustments so that you don´t look like you are sick. :)

Forgot to add, the make up done at runways is a part of a concept that starts with what the designer wants to express trough the clothes and what is choosed for hair and make up is all a part of that concept.

Rarely the makeup itself looks good if it´s not part of that whole.

agree w/ms.cardboard here !
looks fab up there
but it's v.hard to pull off w/out looking sh*t
shimmery frosty eyeshadow . . in pale colours . . . :ermm:
best to steer clear . . ;]

You bet!

pale allways pulls out the worst in most people natural skin tones, not to mention dark shadows... :p

As for using white, my makeup mentor once told us that white is for clowns only... :D

I fear I'm drawn quite strongly to this... already I love pale/pastel shadows - but in matte, I balk at shimmer... possibly due to shimmer trauma involving beige, which (in my opinion) is the worst of the bad by far...-_-

You might like Linda Cantello's matte baby blue eyeshadow "Later"
http://popehair.safeshopper.com/336/2837.htm?852 - I have it the colour is very clear and the pigmentation is near perfect

I think it looks really great on fair blondes...when blended properly...I have never really seen in achieved successfully in 'real life' though...

I like this look....the pale skin and the icy pastels

Although, if I was to do it...I'd water-down the shadow a bit :flower:
