New face Gabrielle Dover had been modelling 4 days when I had the opportunity to meet and work with her. The Lou Dillion look a like from Berry is NYC bound already, after her agency Priscillas had her place within hours of being put on the books.

Stephanie Sian Smith and Posy Dixon frolic with an alluring Australian in and amongst Richmond’s greenery.

It was a swift transition for Antipodean beaut Gabby Dover, scouted whilst chilling on holiday in Byron Bay one week, walking for Christopher Kane at LFW the next. Since then her dreamy 70’s face, arresting stare and dancers limbs are winning her coveted bookings around the world. On a rare day out in London’s suburbs, we took Gabby on an adventure around Richmond Park, where i-D photographer Stephanie Sian Smith whipped up this series of cinematic images, and we asked the questions.

If the Byron Bay encounter hadn’t happened what would you be doing now? I have no idea. Probably bumming off my parents while I pathetically, half-heartedly look for work so that I could eventually travel the world.

What are your tips for learning to walk in a fortnight? Well honestly I had to learn in less than a fortnight. For me it’s all about the confidence and the attitude in myself while walking.

Describe your home town for us? Ah, the little town of Berry, well known for its cafes, candy, donuts and the monthly markets. It has beautiful countryside whilst being a five-minute drive from the beach, perfect to come home to whenever you have a break from work. I sound like a real estate agent don’t I?

Best thing about growing up Australian? The best thing is that people in this industry, from all over the world seem to like us! I don’t know why, maybe we are friendly or something but everyone everywhere seems to take a shine to the Aussies. It’s great!

Had you travelled much before this year? Yes, I have travelled my whole life. I actually lived in Bulgaria for a year and a half at the age on 9 and 10 with my family. We worked in the gypsy villages providing medical help, food and whatever they needed to survive. At such a young age my eyes were opened so wide to so much and, although this was only a small percentage of my childhood I honestly believe that this experience has shaped a big part of who I am today.

What’s the best thing about your new career? And what’s the biggest ball ache? The answer to both questions is exactly the same. The ‘living on the edge’ feeling. The not knowing what your life could look like in a few days, is both exciting and horrible. One moment it’s exciting, the next it’s annoying, making me angry and scared, then it’s exciting again.

What’s next this year? Hopefully NYC again but being home is such a privilege at the moment, being around family and friends.
