Ecuadorian-born, New York-based designer Gabriela Cadena has established herself as one of the red carpet designers of the moment — who can forget Camila Alves’ stunning pink moment at the 2014 Oscars? — and her front row at New York Fashion Week included Jaime King, Nicky Hilton and Michelle Rodriguez. But on the runway, her spring collection read a little too beauty pageant at times.

Cadena showed lots of skin and plenty of tight dresses — both short and long. There was an allover fringe number in blue, tight skirts with ankle-length fringe overlay, jumpsuits with mesh sleeves, and the ultimate glam statement: a sequined embroidered electric-blue gown with cape sleeves. The collection certainly didn’t lack for glitz and glitter — which in Hollywood is not necessarily a bad thing.
