Ryan Reynolds has joined Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot in the heist thriller “Red Notice,” which has also moved from Universal Pictures to Netflix, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap.
Almost every major studio bid on rights to the action comedy, with Universal and Legendary winning out and handing The Rock his career-best paycheck of $22 million. Rawson Marshall Thurber is directing. Thurber was said to receive an eight-figure salary while the project itself will cost upwards of $125 million.
Universal had aimed for a production start in the spring of this year with a release of June 12, 2020. It was then pushed to Nov. 13, 2020. It is now set to start principal photography in various location in 2020.
“Red Notice” centers around the pursuit of the most wanted art thief in the world. It will be produced by Beau Flynn through his FlynnPictureCo. with Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia through their Seven Bucks Production banner, along with Thurber, who is writing and directing. Scott Sheldon will executive produce.
