Garment Steamers or How Do You Keep Your Clothes From Wrinkling?

i'm considering buying another garment steamer.

this one caught my eye. it shows workers from harvey nichols steaming a victoria beckham garment. (image from dailymail)



i used to have a whirlpool fabric freshener. it gently steamed two garments at a time. however one of the pieces from it broke years ago and the company no longer makes the device. i might buy another one on ebay.

i am not good at ironing.

what does everyone else use?

the best is the goold old iron but i do have a professional Jiffy steamer...which works well i suppose

i've got a jiffy as well...love it...
those handhelds aren't great imo because they hold very little water and you have to keep refilling...

as much as i love fashion, i'm not getting on my knees for it...

those are true visual stylists at work! I would be dead if not for my handheld steamer! It's so much better than lugging around a huge *** steamer...

Jiffy's are awesome and great for a quick fix, but I find that the good ol' iron does my clothes more justice and makes them look crisper...

I have the Joy Mangano Little Steamer (something like that) and it's a great size. It isn't so small that you constantly refill, but it's still lightweight and steams like a dream. It isn't quite as good as commercial grade, but that's good because I dislike how much steam gets everywhere with the big iron ones. Plus, I don't have the space for one.

The chord on the Mangano is also long enough that you can hang everything on the shower rack and reach all of the garment easily.

Usually I just don't pack the clothes that are in my closet too close to one another and that keeps them from wrinkling. I always iron stuff that needs ironing

I could not live without my steamer! I have two, both are just household style ones, not industrial. One is by conair and one is a different brand, but comparable. Each was about $40 usd and I got them at Bed, Bath & Beyond. I have two because even when I was away for just a couple months like for summer internships, I NEEDED my steamer so I bought another one while I was gone. So now I have a spare. They are the kind that has a tank and a stand with a hose. You can wheel it around and hang a few garments on it.

I am too lazy to iron. Steaming is much faster, and it actually works better for things like silk dresses and knits and delicate items. If you want creases though, you have to iron. But I rarely want creases.
