I have a feeling that the mermaids in POTC4 will be portrayed differently. Maybe they are not supposed to be beautiful. Maybe they are supposed to be bad like in the 2003 live action version of Peter Pan. Who knows.

Either way that dead mermaid photo makes them look part squid or something.

But I don't think we can really judge what the mermaids in PoTC 4 are going to look like aesthetically based on what appears to be a rotting corpse of one. Those generally don't look good.

I hope they will still look different and more human though, I mean what's the point of casting Megan Fox and Gemma then?

As long as they don't look like one's from that "Hook" movie with Robin Williams. They were like a cross between a troll doll and a transvestite.

They're better off lookin' the those girls from that "H20: Just Add Water" show.

They will probably be just freaky and strange-looking but still beautiful. It's a Disney-movie afterall. It needs to be suitable for all ages.

Well, for one...it can't be sure that that is Gemma..in a larger, un-cropped shot, there are parts of another mermaid scattered around.

Additionally, I don't know if it's going to be quite as ugly as it seems. For one, that's without the special affects that will probably be added later, and secondly, it's not really so terrible looking. It's probably not going to be entirely beautiful looking, but maybe a stronger, more ferocious sort of mermaid...something closer to the older notions of mermaids, before Disney came about.

I honestly do not understand why pictures of her haven't yet popped up, but as someone commented earlier in response to the image I posted...maybe people aren't really looking into it, and just hoping that someone else will come up with it. I say we have a mermaid-hunt, yeah??

^ I thought that that was merely theoretical?? As a way of explaining why rumours about her getting work with HB not coming to fruition, yeah?? Not 100% sure, but that's what comes to mind. Also, has anyone seen the pics of the dead mermaid on the set? It's not her, but it does give you an idea for what they/some of them look like.

Oh, just a thought...do you think that they're actively keeping her out of sight? I mean, surely they must realise how much some of us are waiting for her. What's more, even those that weren't aware of her before might be now...considering all the press she's had over the past few months, whether negative or positive.
