They just repeated themselves for 5 minutes...like always. But they did say that the mermaids were "very very beautiful, but dangerous." and had some clip of pirates hitting something in the water. That was the whole mention of mermaids. Pretty lame.

You really aren't missing anything. The reporters literally repeated themselves for 4 out of the 5 minutes. You probably got to see, at most, 10 seconds of any actual "exclusive" footage.

According to the Daily Telegraph (Sunday 5th December) Gemma Ward has been spotted in Western Australia and is spending time with her parents. "Wearing big black sunglasses, Jeans and a grey tank top, Ward appeared relaxed and healthy with her hair down just below her shoulders" - no pic unfortunately.

no, we had one picture surface just few months ago. A member posted it here, it was a picture of Gemma and member's friend, I thought it was recent.
But if not then yeah, her last "spotting" was in November of 2009.

Do you have the source? Yes, I read too that Astrid is being cast as a mermaid but I haven't read anywhere that she'll be the main one.
