Empress said after "The Black Balloon". She got "The Strangers" and "Pirates" after "The Black Balloon".
Of course there's nothing after Pirates. She's been doing stage work in Australia.

of course blockbusters can make an actress a star, but a role should be way more bigger. like for example rosie got in transformers. I don't think that gemma will be noticed from this, i mean she is not even the main from mermaids.
i hope i am wrong.

It's more about the contacts and impression you make on set than how big the role is. Not always, but most of the time.
And I think if any actor is thruthful, they'd rather work with Rob Marshall and Jerry Bruckheimer than with Michael Bay from Transfomers. (sexist piece of sh*t) Rosie and Megan are in Transformers for the eye-candy. Gemma is better off being a mermaid in Pirates. Not to mention she gets to work with Johnny, Penelope, Geoffrey, Ian. It's an awesome cast.

I would think that if Gemma was trying to promote herself as an actress she would want to do stuff like attend the POTC premieres and press events.

^ Exactly. It seems like Gemma wants to act, but she doesn't wanna be famous. In a way it's not possible, because fame comes with getting these big gigs. It would be good for her to get her name out there, the door could open for more options and clients.
