Just to be precise, her break from modeling lasted 6 years. The last show she did was Hermès S/S 2008, it was the last Prada show she did 8 years ago.

Anyway, I cannot express how happy I am she is back. She was my first and biggest model love ever, it was such a moving moment

I was hoping she’d just comeback year after year, I wanted to see her face, walking down major runways and just smile back at me on the covers of Vogue. Also it's funny when models have babies, they seem more determined than ever to get back into work and support their family. And it looks like having a baby did wonders for her figure...

if Gemma needed money i dont think Prada would have been the first show she would have appeared at, i dont even think Prada shows/campaigns even pay well for models. Plus, a Vogue Paris editorial isn't going to pay much either. I am sure she did it because shes had enough time to live her life. shes had a baby, an acting career, time with family, friends, she was modeling non-stop back then im sure it got to be overwhelming and she needed to take a step back and figure out what she wanted and not what her agents did.

I highly doubt she was in desperate need of money - some of her film roles, even if they were only small parts, would likely have seen her paid very handsomely.

Glad to see her back! It's been an extremely long time since I've seen people this excited about someone returning to the biz. Actually, I don't think I've ever seen people this excited.

can I jump on the bandwagon and say hurray! I thought Gemma would never come back to modelling, but when I saw her at Prada my jaw dropped and was so happy to see her. I am glad she is back and that her comeback was so significant. Hopefully there are many more cool things to come

Yes, I was thinking about that yesterday, how in six years the industry has changed so much when it comes to social media etc, and I was wondering how it might feel like to come back after a -relatively- short time and find so much differences...

Well it's not like she doesn't know what Instagram is, she's 26 not 66. Plus, she has an Instagram.
I'm almost sure that she didn't just blindly jump back into this. She's probably been doing her research so she knows what she's getting herself in for.

The money is not in runway and editorials but in ad campaigns so in order to land one (or several) she´d benefit from the exposure of walking Prada and having a VP editorial (fingers crossed for a cover).
I doubt she got rich by her movie roles, they were all small ones weren´t they? I´m sure she earns more in fashion than movies (peak of her career opossed to two small roles in movies). So money could have been a factor to her comeback.
Either way, what´s important is that she´s back. Hopefully to stay

I saw in another forum that some people are complaining that she's not the same as old Gemma and that she's lost her spark.

I don't think people think about the fact that she probably flew all the way from Australia, so she was probably extremely tired, also has a baby and she gave birth, what? 6 months ago?

She looks damn good. She's also not 16 anymore, she's all sorts of sexy mature Gemma now. Also the make up and hair isn't the best, in my opinion.

That makes sense, afterall her peak years were from 15-18 yrs old. She was still a kid and people tend to have a warped idea of models who begin young and then change as they age. That's why models like Lara are lucky they gained fame as grown women -- people are used to them as fully formed adults.

Truthfully, I think the look at Prada was terrible, hair and makeup wise. I've seen her stripped down and her face still looks the same, but less cherubic, of course.

It's really major. Her comeback at Prada is just amazing. I was sad that she wasn't on Vogue Italia cover but now I think that way is much better for Gemma. She is not one of 50. She is one and only. I can't belevie it's true. We're waiting so long! Now I would like to see her in Paris.
