Gemma Ward

I found it interesting that her “ Recruitment “ into the industry garners almost no conversation at all. Very telling about pop culture and the human psyche in the triangle.
It’s like law and government just look the other way.
I've been following Gemma since the whole doll-face phase of models in fashion so... basically since the start of her career (internationally, at least). I didn't even know there was any drama surrounding her entering the industry or leaving. I always just figured she chose to exit gracefully but could be very much mistaken?

Alright let me qualify all that. It’s fair to do so.

When examining these individuals be it Gemma Ward or others in film , Fashion or the expressive industries , there is a constant balance in their exploitation, now companies be they movie studios , music companies or fashion houses are the instruments of that exploitation , spending billions in cash , and descending an army of trained and conditioned scouts in to the entire world to effectively exploit that human resource. Not unlike an oil company.

They know who they are , what they need to farm , and that’s what they go after with every dollar imaginable.

How ever the mall trip with Nicole Trufino in Perth is clearly that teenager going to try her hand at being a model. Gemma here self has been repeatedly quoted as saying she had zero interest in any of it. So my friend is going to the mall and that’s all I’m doing seems more like the mindset. Hence the commentary on her muddy clothes.

Now she collided with a semi industry individual involved in that show being cast. Like one of his own in a Russian McDonald’s(Selezneva) he too saw the industries target in Ward. Then comes the part of forging parental consent and photographing her even over the protests of not wanting to be involved.

The absence of the triangle in this world has kept things or at least the knowledge that the collective whole wishes to not acknowledge about popular culture and social behavior subdued. This combined with what is known as the spirit of the law are the two contributing factors as to why the recruitment is referred to that so casually. Remove the fact that it is Gemma Ward Pop Culture figure.

What would you call forging a minors parents signature, detaining her against her express will for photographs and so on? And Gemma Ward? A garden variety example of pop culture exploitation . A commercial behavior that because of mutual benefit to both government and society , turns their eyes blind. Ward is just a mild example.

A more extreme case. Kate Moss and the editorial “ 3rd Summer of Love “
The Face Magazine 1990. Important work in pop culture to be certain, at its face a few intriguing issues.

Moss has been interviewed as stating at length as saying the photographer Corrine Day used the pressure of denying recommendation to higher opportunity in the industry unless moss did the nudity in that editorial.
Wow, Harvey Weinstein figured out how to put himself in the body of a female photographer in 1990, interesting? I’m not certain straight females or gay males were all that interested in female nudity. Exposing the very relevant discussion today on male market sexualization in popular culture.

Then of course Moss herself was 16 at the time.

Tell me if some random person male or female photographed a 16 year old girl topless and spread it all over an Internet page as fashion or whatever , what would that strike you as?

Any 10 year old can by that magazine at a store in front of a cop and it is 100% legal. Hmmm…

Now of course in the spirit of law Gemma Ward was made a millionaire and was not harmed at all in the way we as a civilized society view the crimes of unlawful imprisonment or custodial interference. As to wether or not throwing Ward into the pop culture fishbowl was a negative only she can answer that.

It is interesting however how much discussion does not occur. isn’t it?
