Yes, Paulette was married to Charlie Chaplin-allegedly. There was never any legal proof. They took a trip to Shanghai and when the came back, both said a marriage took place there, but there was never a marriage license that surfaced. The rumors around the marriage or non marriage cost Paulette the part of Scarlett in Gone with the Wind.
