(PARIS) Images from Geoffrey B. Small's most recent and controversial men's Paris show at Area last week in Paris are now appearing on the IQONS Area space for a limited time. The show entitled "Classe Dirigeant" (ruling class) introduced a radical new style departure for the designer who originated the Napoleonic-style trend. Banned by the Paris fashion establishment, the presentation presented a haunting story of medieval feudalism and power along with an alarming warning for modern times.

yeah i saw the newsletter in my mail this morning....it's just brilliant!! always enjoy GBS...

the presentation is so strong and prolific and the clothes....i would wear just about everything....

Isn't it phantastic?

I firmly believe it could've been better but it's just so humorously feudal I can't help but love it! Feudalism never gets old...

^me too! that entire era is exciting to me style-wise.

here's the entire collection+the women's presentation inspired by similar aesthetic but in different situation. brilliant collections and with a highly thoughtful message. i think geoffrey is terribly underrated. i understand his work is highly esoteric and he is a complete independent but i honestly can't see why he isn't at spoken in the same breath as a Margiela. his collections are so stunning. and btw,you know the napoleanic stylings galliano has been playing with in his menswear, geoffrey was doing that originally....long before galliano snapped it up and suddenly made it something that everybody thinks is something he started.

but i really adore this feudal style he's working upon now.

if you scroll down, there are links to his womenswear collection and the other collections of the designers participating in the Area défilés in Paris this past season. i really like the talents they are showcasing. all with a bit of a handmade feel.

Oh delightful, sincerest thx!

Has anybody got anything by Mr.Small? I'm dying to find out about the quality his creations, is the texture measure up to the visual impact?

^well,i've seen some pieces of his on the yahoo japan auctions, and they look really well made. much in the same vein as MMM. and almost everything he does in some way(whether seam work or surface)is done by hand.

and you're very welcome dustcake! i'm pretty surprised nobody else seems to care about this..

Thanks for the link to the images, Scott!!! :flower:

I like "heroes of another gender." The warrior/ Jeanne d'Arc aesthetic is very inspiring to me right now. :ninja:

dustcake, i have seen some pieces in person at IF, and they have a very artisinal/handmade feel, especially in the details...There is something almost otherwordly (in the historical sense) about them. I wish I could post examples of what I mean, but I can't capture the images from the slideshow. Suffice it to say, I think you would find the stuff even better in person.^_^

This is amazing, there is alot of these pieces which are absolute fantastic constructed. This is very exciting to me because I'm not that familiar with Mr. Smalls design! Thank you for the link Scott :flower: ...

Laika, if you click the individual image you want to post it will open in a new window, and if you click ones more you will have the image in a bigger version! I hope this helps! :flower: ... but you're right, it's always better in person!

How about this one ...

to religious monks who became ordained soldiers to kill in the name of the Lord :ninja: ...
