Incurable romantic that he is, Giambattista Valli showed a sophisticated Resort full of flowers and bows that evoked Paris in the springtime. The extensive collection, which accounts for a healthy share of Valli's business, was strong on eveningwear, with short flower-printed dresses for cocktails and strapless gowns for galas. Both came with gently poufed proportions to suit latter-day Marie Antoinettes—or the very au courant Madame Sarkozy.

I LOVE these pieces!! They are gorgeous! I wish I could touch them, I bet they feel amazing. The palette is very spring-y and I usually dont like floral patterns, but these are very sophisticated. I am in love with this collection!

look number 8 (the black frock/coat) would fit perfectly with Marni's tinsel bag..

Awww i just love this guy, and i am happy there are designers like him who are still up to dressing a woman to make her look beautiful not just treating her like a trend fashion doll.

I getting a little sick of his stuff. It's always got this prissy couture thing going on with the volume and the embellishment. I dunno, I'd like to see a bit of a surprise from him once and a while.

I will say this though, the poppy colored blouson topped dress is really, really pretty.

Saying that this evokes Paris in the springtime is like saying Victoria Beckham all dressed up in roland mouret evokes classic elegance and chic...:sick: then again, Posh loves Valli, so the analogy shouldnt come as a surprise.

i don't like the way he uses prints, his work loses all possible refinement. i also think that the way he constructs dresses and gowns is, in a way, passé. i think you can be referential to big creators like balenciaga for instance (if someone might see a resemblance/an ode/whatever) while still give it an air of today. it is not exactly dated, as i couldnt give an appropriate time period, but it doesnt look new.

I just love Valli's work.
I always find what he does surprising and sometimes even ugly, but it is done is such a beautiful way ... it's difficult to explain - though some pieces are ugly, if I was a wealthy woman, I would still be buying and wearing his clothes, including and especially the ugly pieces.
His style I find is so original and elegant.
I can't wait to see the Spring-Summer '09 show.

And the shoes are, as usual, amazing.

True there is no evolution in his work but this is simply stunning. He's good at what he does.
