Giorgio Armani infused a sense of ease into his namesake collection for resort. Offering a new, luxurious take on the classic tracksuit, he matched a pair of stretch silk jersey pants with a zippered silk-and-cashmere knitted cardigan. Its textured look was a staple of the lineup, which included an array of interesting surfaces — a cropped jacket in a graphic pattern, for example, was crafted from ribbons embroidered on organza for a 3-D effect. This was layered over a masculine poplin and jersey vest and paired with stretch wool and viscose high-waisted trousers.
Armani also created a range of dégradé stripe patterns, using them to decorate a fluid silk dress trimmed with a sculptural ruffle as well as a silk satin double-breasted blazer with dimensional shoulders that, while unconventional, looked crisp and fresh. The lineup’s minimal, slightly masculine feel was softened by its appealing palette: mainly white, sky blue and gray, accented at times by graphic jolts of black, navy and red.
