I don't like her nose here....other than that is the typical beauty ad...I was expecting more...

I don't think that her face is appropriated for a beauty ad. It's not that she is not beautiful, just that her characteristics are not good for a beauty ad.

Well...I think Michaela looks beautiful.

But, for me, I just wish that Givenchy would have a little brand continuity...I mean, you've got Tisci's dark, edgy aesthetic for the mainline, then you've got this ad which looks like a Dior ad, then you've got cologne ads featuring Justin Timberlake...it's too all over the place.

I just wish the beauty and fragrance side of the label was more united with Tisci's mainline vision.

Doesn't really seem to be anything special... she's a pretty girl, but there just doesn't seem to be anything really extra for the whole beauty ad thing.

When I see it I don't what I look first: the pink background or her nose

This looks good. Better than the beauty camapign with Liv Tyler.

I agree, ads of different departments of Givenchy rarely seem to be in key with each other. But then again, if I could use Dior as an example, that house doesn't either. Their womenswear ads are always very colorful and loud, as are their beauty ads....the perfume ads feel very cinematic and the mens ads are simple and classy. I don't mind these differences for either brands because every different branch of a house has to speak to different consumers in different ways. If this beauty ad was anything like the main ads, it would sell 0 lipsticks. For that, I think this is an ok ad.

Oh, and Michaela: underrated :judge:

^^
Actually, in regards to Dior...even though their campaigns for the women's, men's, beauty and fragrance ads are varied, I still feel like there is at least some underlying continuity...what that 'thing' is that ties all the ads together for me, I don't know, but for some reason they all feel Dior.

But I just don't see anything Givenchy (Tisci's Givenchy) in this ad...or frankly any other of the Givenchy fragrance or beauty ads. And to me, that's the problem.

I think Chanel is a good example of a label that has great brand continuity when it comes to ad campaigns...and maybe it's simply because Karl shoots all the Chanel campaigns himself. I don't see why Givenchy couldn't do the same. I&V do wonders with the mainline ads, why couldn't they shoot do the campaigns for everything else? Even if they made more commercial images for the fragrance and beauty ads, at least there would be a feeling of similarity and unity.

...and I totally agree about Michaela, Dale!:D

Yeah I love Michaela and she's great for this kind of thing. I love her face and nose, I hope she can keep popping up here and there and then get the big campaign that she deserves. Thanks for the pictures ckgirlbr.

what's the pink line in the part of her hair? does anybody else notice that

well i think Dior doesn't really rely on the one and only concept of the brand therefore it's no surprise its imagery for different divisions vary that much. yet you may find some resemblance in their womenswear and beauty campaigns. as for Givenchy, they love to speak of the brand's DNA, which spreads from the runway presentations to ad campaigns to shops' interiors. and after all the wide speculations on Tisci's dark romantisism and how it correlates with Givenchy heritage you do get JT and this weird second rate beauty image, which, to be honest, have nothing to do with the real Givenchy image. it does confuse a customer in a sense, saying, like 'you don't have to be a Givenchy man to smell like one'. which is really weird.
