There's a headline on WGSN that ISAAC MIZRAHI is hot favourite to get the GIVENCHY FEMME job !!! :o

Could any kind person with access to the site post the story ?

Makes my thread on SOPHIA KOKOSALAKI for the job look rather sick !!!

Still , you cannot win them all .

KIT

really?!?!...there's a big difference btw sofia and isaac...

though...in some ways...isaac seems more appropriate for givenchy....since most of his 'designs' were basically ripped off from givenchy and dior anyway...

but he certainly wouldn't bring anything fresh to the label...

wish i could post it for you kit...i'm equally curious...

Honestly, after what he did for his last made-to-order collection, he could be great for the job.

What? I thought the Sophia deal was signed, sealed, and delivered? I don't like Isaac. I think he should stay at Target where he belongs.

i don't doubt his talent but i really HOPE lvmh doesn't hire another designer with such a strong personal vision. i like sophia because of the quietness and the subtlety...we've already seen what happens when you hire on someone as loud as mizrahi...

this is what I could pull from WSGN...don't know if this is the entire article:

Mizrahi tops Givenchy designer shortlist
The shortlist for creative director at Givenchy womenswear is down to four candidates according to a report in MFF. The company is reported to be seeking a designer who can exploit the house’s heritage for a modern consumer and raise the Givenchy profile. Sophia Kokosalaki, Roland Mouret, Zac Posen and Isaac Mizrahi are on the shortlist with a decision expected before the end of October. Mizrahi, who has bounced back from his own company failure to be a media favourite and create lines for both couture and mass-market customers, is reported to be frontrunner.

Many thanks for your favour , kimair :flower:

At least there is a chance for Sophia .

They used to talk about Roland Mouret as the obvious successor to Dame Lagerfeld at CHANEL . Zac Posen stands a chance if the Toledano brother in charge of GIVENCHY is gay and fancies some male eye - candy in the post : neither Lee McQueen nor Julien Macdonald were exactly oil paintings , as far as looks are concerned .

Isaac Mizrahi will have to tone down his camp theatricality during his interview if he is to impress the staid Bernard Arnault , as I think he has more than enough of that from Galliano . Will Isaac try to buy up every available video copy of ' SHAMELESS ' , like Schwartzenegger tried to do with ' PUMPING IRON ' , before his campaign in the California Gubernatorial election ?

But enough of my ramblings , SOPHIA is still in with a chance !!!

What's the betting an announcement will be made just before the GIVENCHY design team's efforts for S/S 05 are revealed in the forthcoming Paris pret a porter collections .

Thanks once again , kimair , for your kindness .

KIT :innocent:

I love Issac but there aren't enough women in fashion in these high, prestigious positions...Sophia kicks ***, I hope she gets it...even though I love Issac! Maybe they could do it together, share the blame when the higher ups at Givenchy hate the new collections...

So, will Givenchy be sold at Target now?

Woohoo Go Target! ;)

if i had a vote...it would go to roland mouret...especially after his spring collection...it all makes sense now...

no problem kit ;)

I can't see Isaac designing for anyone but himself; he would really have to embrace the Givenchy heritage and moderize it, not just put his own stuff out there.

Zac Posen??? You've got to be kidding me.

I don't know much about Sophia Kokosalaki, but after seeing her pieces, I could see her fitting in. Roland Mouret too. His SS collection was very refined and elegant.

Roland could be cool for Givenchy, from what I've seen of Sophia's work she does very pretty stuff even if it's not the expected Givenchy look and Zac.....well, I think Metal summed it up best.

apart from Sophia, it's a bad&sad choice of candidates for the post :(

i am split because i see the structure and tailoring of givenchy in some of roland's work but that beautiful soft femininity in sophia's work...either way, those will be some hot items...

and there's the question of couture...who do you think you breathe new breath into that...

(attached is a picture of a roland dress and a sophia dress from last spring)
