Givenchy Paris Men's F/W 2016.17

I really like most of the menswear looks, especially the jackets. I personally think it's a really great collection overall. What stood out for me the most were the HC dresses tho. They are incredible. Especially looks 43, 55 and 61!
So glad to see Leila Goldkuhl btw. And such a shame Isis didn't walk.

Yikes… banal offering aside. the cast is just a chromosome away from Frankenstein's Monster.

Riccardo is unapologetically not even giving a damn anymore. Where once his ripping off Gaultier’s mix of street/ couture and masculine/ feminine infusions, and even Helmut’s sharp minimalist lines were tolerable because he Riccardo gave it all a hip hop vibe that was very right for the times, now… Now it’s just rearranging, and adding some cheap bedazzling here and there. I suppose the graphic tees, accessories are bank enough.

At least the women's is nice enough, and he bothered to showed up for the final bow.

This is how i feel. This isn't even a bad collection, but it's forgettable at best. Not a single new idea: everything presented here, we've already seen before (down to the womenswear, which isn't bad per se, but seen before - although the Magen David dress is confusing?).
The outerwear looks great (could do without the givenchy logo in the coats ), but other than that - so boring. And most of the trousers, in motion, were truly ill fitting. Maybe that was a desired effect but it looked awful. This is Riccardo in autopilot, yet again.

(and the set had nothing to do with the clothes, as well as the soundtrack)

There's a problem when the womenswear upstages the menswear in a men's collection. Some of it is really beautiful, though nothing new.

The men's stuff is fine, some nice coats and jackets, but I've seen better variations on them from him as recently as last fall.

I'm not feeling a lot of the Catholic type prints that he's doing again but the cobra pieces are sick. I think there are quite a few strong bombers here as well.

I liked the womenswear more than the menswear, but I still love the coats, not a bad collection.

The best about this show beside the couture gown is the bomber jacket.

can't help but feel this was so toned down (bc he's leaving?) it reminded me of alex wang's last balenciaga show just going through the motions

i really like it though, i know it's nothing "new" but i really love everything he did over the last 2-3 years. not one bad collection.
