Givenchy Stops Couture Collection

Imagine how amazing a couture dress based off of those costumes would be.

Those costumes are based on Couture dresses.....

Everything he does is based off of those couture looks. He hasn't done a single thing different. How many times is Natasha's dress going to be worn to the met ball? He's a sh*t designer now...

I saw the Bolero at Opéra Garnier last night and Tisci's costumes are stunning. All men and women are dressed alike. The dancers first come on stage wearing a black cape. As the music starts they gradually take it off to reveal the transparent dress you can see in the sketch above. The choreography is all about non-stop movement, transe and turns, and the dresses were literally floating around the dancers' bodies. Towards the end they took off the dresses to reveal bodysuits with skeleton embroideries, with one dancer advancing on stage wearing the black cape again. Tisci's costumes really complete the dance and concept of this new choreography, contributing actively in its success.
You can see more pictures of the costumes on the Paris Opera Ballet's photographer's website.

Uhm, I don't know if it means anything, but under "Fall 2013" on the Givenchy website it does say "Fall 2013 Haute Couture Coming Soon." Who knows...

Singer Madonna wore a Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci custom made outfit to the 2013 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas.

So as opposed to making custom made pieces based off the techniques from the couture showings he's just doing custom made pieces from elements that the RTW has.

Why was there none of THIS at The Met?

that's amazing!!
(yet, once again, it's hardly a new design, it's basically this dress with minor changes in the front of the skirt :

He has gotten so lazy. I really am over Givenchy. It's become nothing more than a glorified street brand and this point.

I'm pretty much through with this guy. Liv Tyler is no longer one of his muses. He called Kim Kardashian the most beautiful pregnant lady he ever dressed (maybe he's only dressed one pregnant lady in his life). He said he would make custom Givenchy dresses for the red carpet now that he stopped the shows and for most part, they are recycled pieces. I feel really bad when someone says they are wearing custom made Givenchy on the red carpet. Are they seriously not aware? Just absolute laziness. Maybe he started to believe in his own hype, being friends with Beyonce, Kanye and Madonna would probably do that.

Rooney Mara, Carine Roitfeld, Florence Welch, all the supermodel muses...they deserve better.

^He has some REALLY good muses who embody the haunting, ghostly, dark, romantic Gothic feel of his clothes (ex: Marina Abramovic, Rooney Mara, Maria Carla Boscono). Then he has what I call "wtf-muses" (Beyonce, Ciara, Madonna, Kanye West) who are the antitheses of the Givenchy aesthetic.

A M E N !!!!

It really feels like all his talent and innovation got sucked up by his hype. Huge disappointment really. But all those prentending custom design Couture pieces are a disgrace really. Not because they're not bueatiful pieces but because they tarnish the couture legacy of the house IMO. Like Madonna's Billboard look : a RTW jacket with some fur, panties and fishnets and he dare calling that couture... Joan amfar outfit is a modified archive skirt with what looks like a menswear shirt. Riccardo has never been more famouse and hyped-up yet his work has never been lazier and uninspired.

I look at all his recent collections and collaborations and it fails to register with me that it's the same visionary who created this...
