May 3, 2007 – Have models suddenly become myopic, or are glasses the new accessory du jour? Yigal Azrouël opened the season with bespectacled lovelies in luxe boy-for-girl basics. "Our focus was on smart, sexy women," says stylist Kate Young—who's not averse to donning a pair of oversize frames herself. "Glasses are a very covered-up way of saying something provocative." Newcomer Chris Benz had style rather than sex on his mind. He used specs to achieve a "nerdy/art school/'mess-thete' " vibe that had the crowd at his first-ever show looking twice.

I really like the lacoste ones...do you know if they sell them in the stores? Or do I have to scower to get them hahahahaa.

I have ones like the Hermes glasses :(....but they're nine west haha.

i like glasses, they give so much punch & personality for such a small item.

i like the big geek ones...but i'd feel stupid wearing glasses when i don't need to!

I like glasses if the people wearing them actually need them. Just wearing glasses for the hell of it is tacky.

I've been wanting a clear/quartz plastic framed pair for a while for myself.

Lol I can rest assure the world that I require glasses :( I'm blind as a bat without them.

yey, the things i have to wear in order to see are finally considered "cool"

Even though this is a bit of a pointless accessory, these Beckerman's are very cute:

I agree it's such a personal item. . .

I wish I needed glasses. I remember being 12 or something and wearing some because I thought they were cool. Now I feel silly wearing them when I don't need them. :innocent:

I love the geeky ones and the Marc by. .

i wear glasses when i'm not wearing my contacts. i find it is a difficult item to work into my wardrobe. i seem to veer off into a different style than usual when i choose my frames. i had some secretary-ish ones for a while. then sort of minimal non-existent oval wireframes. and now i am at a loss as to what to get.

hey markie, i've been looking for some clear plastic frames too, who makes them, were they expelsive and do you love them? sorry for my many questions! :D

Hands up, I'm tacky! I have been wearing glasses even though I have perfect vision! In my defense however, I started doing it about 11 years ago when I was in my early 20's, discovering heavy rimmed ones hide dark circles beautifully, so they have been in my 'beauty' armory ever since. And I also think people look lovely in glasses and shouldn't see them as ugly or embarrassing and I think they should be made a feature.

honestly I don't think glasses are a trend or whatever... you need to wear glass to see or not, full stop!.... I wear glass most of the time otherwise I don't see 2metre far from me...
this is not even a "styling excuse"... this is just a new accessoirize they are selling... it's the new bag on catwalks... it's hey "look you don't even have money to buy our bags or sunglasses?! well buy our glasses..."

i think glasses can be a trend/styling choice....
a huge number of people need help to see--whether they wear contacts or glasses

a cool pair of glasses can cause some to wear their glasses more often..
sometimes i think may glasses look silly with my outfit or just doesn't "work" so i wear contacts

i don't really love these 07/08 glasses though...
i'll be sticking with the pair i have now ^_^

^you wear contacts? I cannot... I am so sissy on that point... I've always been scared of touching my eyes...
what you said whas a bit my point... some people need to wear glasses... so we can find (and there are... i remember in the late 90s early 2000s people were wearing those big black glasses) trends among glasses but glasses are not a trend themselves... that's what i wanted to say... i always thought it was ridiculous to wear glasses when you don't need them... but it might be some sort of feeling because when you are kid wearing glasses everybody is kidding you "you nerd!" etc. like a vilain petit canard...

for my part I want to change... mine are some Lindberg titanium or whatever unbreakable and I now want something more classic, conservative... sthg that match with the chaines I bought like 3yrs ago and never really dare to wear... and esp. sthg that fit on my face!!!
this is so hard to find the right eyeglasses... that's why I think I'll keep mine some time again...

Alain Mikli is doing very good eyewear... if someone wants to change...
Cutler and Gross, too... I like their "vintage" collection... but those "Terry Richardson" eyeglasses don't really fit on my face...

^^ i see what you're saying..
but i think that wearing glasses can be trendier at some times rather than others... i don't know if this season is one of those times though

there are definitely different trends in glasses from one season to the other.. just not really liking the style of the glasses this season
