I it is a myth why is it that most babies born to mothers who use crack are under weight and are under developed? My cousin who delivers babies doesnt think its a myth because he has seen it first hand.

Doctors now think it is less because of the drugs and more because addicted mothers don't get proper nutrition, don't get prenatal care, and may have other serious health problems that are inimical to the formation of a fetus. Also, babies of drug abusers are frequently born premature, which frequently harbors complications.

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, hwoever, is a reality, and some drug users also drink heavily, so this is a factor which must also be considered.

If what you're saying is true (which does make sense) it is still an indirect cause so it should still be illegal and not considered a myth.

Tobacco is not the direct cause of low birth weight. The lack of oxygen it creates for the babies is the cause. In the end its still a cause. If A leads to B and B causes C then C is a cause of A. At least thats what I think I learned in school
