Dean and Dan are launching their first fragrance for later this year called "He Wood." The Canadian inspired fragrance has cedear, white fir and violet notes in a square shapped red alder wood flacon.

It will be sold exclusively in the flagship boutique in Milan for 2 months, then U.K./EU distrobution starting in October and an Amercian release in April 2008.

The ad campaign is shot in black and whhite and has model Leandro Maeder gripping a tree trunk in water. It was shot by Steven Meisel.

A woman's fragrance is scheduled for mid-2008.

I loved the smell of He Wood unfortunately my husband did not.. :(
It was available in the UK back in March 2008.

The fragrance is by Daphne Bugey.

I fell inlove straight away when first sniffed, but, ey!, there was something about it that reminded me other well known juice straight away, so I decided to experiment and wait for reactions.
I ask the tender to make me a tester, and then, here I was making sniff my neck to every single friend of mine.
Conclusion: They thought it was KenzoAir, just like me. I was not they only one though.

Both colognes share vetiver and cedar. I'm a fan of KenzoAir, but I have to admit: this a way better version in my opinion.

He wood is a minimal fragrance: a dreamscape of a light scent of a forest brezze near a lake.
It provides a new step on “wood” accords— it's smooth, bleached woods floating on sweet, cool, lightly flower-scented water.

Starts kind of aquatic and ozonic, definitively synthetic but pure, just like a whisper, but with presence. So many people has remarked that the initial burst is alcohol like, but to my nose is like watery fresh clean cut light wood, a similar smell of a paper manifactured factory.
The fir here it's rather no very evident, but, in a few minutes the perfume gets personality and body, I smell violet leaf, a beautiful violet flower note, mild vetiver and water notes that blends beautifully with the vetiver and cedar. There's altrough a nice ambient of forest and the previous watery soft accord remains gorgeous in the background.

It develops gorgeous and heady above yourself. It doesn't project grandly, but it's enough noticiable.

This is a dream of perfume, it's just the same atmosphere as KenzoAir without the aniseed.
It's funny how completely apart essences can share close similarities.
He Wood is an alive dream, the scent of how a fairy forest would smell like. A new solution for those that like light woody fragrances with a different touch.

Ermmm… Where’s the wood?! All I’m getting here is a very watered down Gucci pour Homme with ozonic notes…

What an usual scent we have present here... the moment I sprayed it on, three fragrances came to mind: Body Kouros, Au Masculin, and Hypnose. The opening notes were sharp and obtrusive; but lacking of any real oomph, which is the exact same that I get from BK. It should be strong and citrusy, with a powerful accord of bergamot spices and a lavender backdrop; but it's not. After a moment, that faded, and it was replaced by a very strong green ivy and rum scent; the intoxicatingly sweet (and alcohol-infused) notes blushed out that stale introduction, which were further sweetened by what appears to be some musk and bay leaves. A turn-around for the scent; whose opening was uninspiring and bland, but will it continue?

Cascading through the heart, we begin to see that this won't be a spicy forest; rather, it is a clean cedar chest. So clean, in fact, that it's damn near sterile. A sprig of violet blossoms as the pseudo-BK/AM/Hypnose notes fade away, and the fir that replaces it propels the scent into a strong cedar base. As time passes, this scent gets even better, because the violet fades away, and you're left with just what you came for when you bought this scent -- cedar; and lots of it. There are no floral notes of violet, or any musk left; rather, there is just freshly-cut cedar, with a hint of pine and amber (to keep very little of the sweetness, so you don't smell like a lumberjack -- instead, you smell like a lumberjack wearing a tuxedo). The scent is relatively boring and uninteresting, in terms of development and complexity, but that's exactly what it needs to be in order to achieve the effect that it has. It's very clean, green, cedar-y, woodsy, and non-invasive to your nose. The woods aren't dark or dense; their whiffs are carried on the air, and you can tell there is a relatively transparent feel to this, which allows the scent to take control of the pine and use it in favor of the cedar.

Dsquared2 will follow up on their debut fragrance for men, He Wood, with an entry for women: She Wood, designed for the "cool girls who wear men's scents":
"We started from a men's fragrance and made it feminine. We didn't start off by saying let's do woman's fragrance," said Dean Caten.

"It's not that girly that we can't wear it, I like doing fragrances that are a bit more unisex. Both of our scents are complementary and timeless," Dan Caten added.
The woody floral scent was developed by perfumer Daphne Bugey. The notes feature three accords: light (lemon, jasmine, neroli), sap (violet, heliotrope and musk) and wood (cedar, vetiver and vegetable amber).
Look for Dsquared2 She Wood this September, when He Wood will also officially launch in the US. She Wood will be in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum and in matching body products. (via wwd)

DSquared2 will launch He Wood Rocky Mountain Wood next month. The new fragrance is the first of a projected series of flankers to He Wood and She Wood under the name Nature Always Wins.
Like the earlier DSquared2 fragrances, He Wood Rocky Mountain was developed by perfumer Daphne Bugey, and it is reportedly a "more virile" take on He Wood's "woody violet base note". I'll update with more detailed notes when I can find them.
DSquared2 He Wood Rocky Mountain will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

I loved He Wood but it didn't meets the approval of my husband, I hope this one will..
