Well, Anson Chen resigned months ago.
What??? No! I actually couldn't wait to see the content, hoping that he'll have an edit because I haven't seen his work in a while.
Big loss for them. Oh well, at least Jacky Tam is still there.
I like the brashy approach they have, reserving big budgets for the cover shoots. Sometimes it works, like in this case. The last two shots are great, easily the best in this entire issue. But then just in case you didn't realise it was entirely sponsored by Nike, there's the logo on the foot of the page. That's the one gripe I have with GQ China, way too commercial. My God, Esquire launched in a millennial spin-off in China, and apparently the entire debut issue was filled with Dior ads from front to back cover, no other brands featured and editorialised.

As for their usual cover casting of tween pop crooners, it's as clear cut as American Vogue who mostly select cover stars with the highest follower reach. The fact that this issue comes with various poster sets gives you an idea of the kind of demographic they're after.
I also like their art direction
@Phuel although sometimes I can't tell it apart from GQ Taiwan. And now that Grant is back at GQ Australia, that edition is slowly morphing into GQ China.
