She was going to school (convent), she was waiting tables as a part time job when "someone" sent in her pictures for a British Vogue model competition... and so that's how she started.
she moved to london to become a full time model, then she had The car accident (lots of surgery et al) so she started as a junior editor at British Vogue.
20 years there, 20 years at American Vogue...

(... and i hope she goes on there forever!! )
