they just announced the nods and kanye, usher and alicia are all leadin the way, with kayne (10) and the latter both (8)

talk about how the west was won!

go to grammy.com or
http://launch.yahoo.com/promotions/grammys/

any thoughts, any pics (random or not) of the nominees ?
(ex. kanye, usher, alicia, gretchen, snoop, black eyed peas, green dy, or joss stone)

Usher will probably sweep it. If Los Lonely Boys wins anything, I will be rather pissed.

Best New Artist will either be Maroon 5 or Kanye West
Song of the Year should go to Alicia Keys

I couldn't care less about the Grammy awards nowadays, it's all about popularity votes, I mean Justin Timberlake and Beyonce Knowles were totally overhyped. Grammy awards use to prone talent much more back in the days. Now it's all about quantity, no quality AT ALL.

i for one think its sad when the grammys are nominating songs called "yeah".. i'm sure took a lot of creativity to come up with that one :innocent:

LOL, probably didn't take much, but I have to admit that the song is REALLY infectious. It really was the song of the summer. I couldn't help rocking out to it when it came on my car radio (I think other drivers were scared, lol)

^ "Yeah" WAS great... once it gets caught in your head, it stays there, no matter the quality or title of the song. That song will always remind me of my senior year of college. :flower:

i totally agree thats its a catchy song and i'm not going to pretend like i havent rocked out to it in my car whenever it comes on the radio... but seriously- grammy material? i think a song should be more than just catchy and popular to be nominated... there is just so much great stuff out there that gets ignored and that makes me sad :(

This IS true. There are some fantastic artists out there ( :: cough :: The Corrs, for one :: cough :: ) that are quite often overlooked.

the people who should win (jill scott, anthony hamilton, scissor sisters etc) arent going to...instead, the grammys will do what they usually do...have someone perform and then announce a category and, gasp!, the person or group that just performed coincidentally wins the category...i say usher will sweep it even though his songs are mediocre, he and alicia keyes are so overhyped, its sickening...neither of them have done anything that hasnt been done before and done better by another artist, but that said, the grammys love mediocrity...i think kanye should win for best new artist, although im disappointed that workout plan wasnt nominated...i hate that eminem's song just lose it was nominated...one of the worst raps songs of the year...also disappointed that the black eyed peas were nominated in the rap....they are more pop than rap...also back to kanye, i think isnt going to win anything because within each of his categories (aside from best new artist) there is always anotehr artist slightly more popular

as for best album, ray charles will win...both because he deserves it and because of sentimental reasons

I would've rather Eminem's "Mosh" been nominated - at least that song has a real message

ehh..i think the song was really great too..the video was better...what i dont understand is this, why all the praise for em for that song? so it was controversial, but he waited until the freakin week before the election to release the song when other artists, like the dixie chicks, actually had their arses whooped for speaking out about the president when no one else was saying anything...em, like he always does, just rides on the coattails of everyone else...

I think it's more as of the fact that Eminem was speaking more about going to vote to change the administration than Natalie M.'s "I'm ashamed that Bush is from my state".

Or maybe it's cause the Dixie Chicks were seen to be more "wholesome" than Eminem, and Eminem's song shocked people less.
