Grey's Anatomy

Callie is annoying the hell out of me...and can Sloan and Lexie get together already! If she ends up with George, I'm gonna scream...

i've always liked Lexie...
anyhoo, i must admit this season's writing is the old Grey's Anatomy i've missed.
luvin every episode so far.

I like Lexie but she she be a kindergarten teacher instead of a doctor.

Love Alex and Izzie, I'm going to pretend season 3 and 4 never happened.

Meredith and Derek are so boring, something dramatic needs to happen.

Cristina is hot with that military dude but so annoying by herself.

I hate Callie and Hahn. Hate them apart, hate them together. Get off the show.

Sloan and Addison should been together so Addy can get off her awful show private practice and come back to seattleeee

Brace yourselves, Grey's Anatomy fans: The show has parted ways with a female doc who is blond, beautiful, outspoken – and not Katherine Heigl. It's Brooke Smith. As in Dr. Erica Hahn. As in one half of Callica, Grey's first-ever significant gay couple. And that's only part of the story. I'm told this was not Shonda Rhimes' decision but rather an order that came down from the network. (ABC declined to comment.) According to one Grey's source, the suits "had issues" with both the explicit direction Callica was taking (think: undiscovered country, south of the border, etc.) and, more importantly, with the Hahn character in general. Basically, they didn't like her and wanted her gone ASAP. But how soon? And what does this mean for Callica? Keep yourselves braced, because the shocks don't stop in the following Q&A with the sublime Ms. Smith. She deserves better treatment than this, and next go-round, here's hoping she gets it.
AUSIELLO: What the hell happened?!
BROOKE SMITH: I was very excited when they told me that Erica and Callie were going to have this relationship. And I really hoped we were going to show what happens when two women fall in love and that they were going to treat it like any heterosexual couple on TV. And so I was surprised and disappointed when they just suddenly told me that they couldn't write for my character anymore.

That's all they said?
Yes. Frankly, it was you that warned me this might happen on the red carpet back in July. You said [sometimes networks get cold feet] with gay relationships. And I was so naive. I'm like, "It's 2008." But I'm starting to realize that not everyone feels the way I do. [Scroll down to watch our now-infamous exchange.]

Did you get the feeling that the story was making people nervous?
No. At work I had no sense of it. And more fans seemed to like it than not. I don't think I'm ever going to know [why this really happened].

When did you find out?
I found out in mid-September soon after shooting the monologue that aired last week where Erica has the revelation that she's gay. They even came down and told me it was a great scene -- one of the best they ever shot on the show. So I was really, really shocked. I was floored when they told me [I was being let go]. It was the last thing I expected. In fact, when they told me I asked, "When is this happening?" And they said, "The [next episode] is your last," which is the one that airs this Thursday. So it was very sudden.

Wait a second – your last episode is this Thursday?
Yes.

How are you written out?
I'm not written out. My final scene is just me heading to my car. I honestly don't know what happens in the next episode. I heard not much. [Quick sidebar: This sheds new light on Mary McDonnell's arrival next week as a top cardiac doc.]

Who broke the news to you?
Shonda.

I'm hearing that this wasn't her decision, but rather ABC's.
You know, I have to tell you, I got that feeling. I don't know for sure, but it definitely seemed like [Shonda's] hands were tied. That was just my gut.

Did she seem upset?
She did seem upset. I wasn't having a very good week that week. I was like, "Oh, God, what is it with this business?!" And she said, "No, no, no. You are such a great actress. We love you." It seemed like some decision came down from above. It didn't feel like it was her.

What was Sara Ramirez's [Callie] reaction?
She was shocked. I'm the one who told her. It took her a few days to get back to me because she was surprised. It was surprising to everybody.

Were you happy with the direction the story line was taking?
You know, I was starting to get there, yeah. I was personally a little impatient with the gay panic, but it was more Callie's thing anyway. I think Dr. Hahn was sort of figuring it out.

What did you think about Callie going to Mark to get pointers on exploring the "undiscovered country"?
It was a little icky. If you're a women, don't you know how to please yourself? But they seemed to be okay with that one.

How are you doing with all this?
It's actually never happened to me before. I never had a moment where I thought I did something wrong. I was just really surprised. I just moved my entire family to L.A., so it was kind of like, "What?" But for some reason I feel like I'm fine. I feel like I'm going to be okay.

source.

hmmm ... i wonder if this means they're going to can the lesbian thing?
which is a double standard since Brothers and Sisters has an openly gay relationship on the same network.

Aw, poor Brooke. As uh, "..." as I thought the storyline was - she's a great actress. She shouldn't feel bad, I'm sure she'll have no problem finding work. And lmao, at least Callie's problems are now solved. :ninja:

Oh. I think the other character that was supposed to be coming onto the show - my memory is not serving at the moment (the one that had relations with Mer) is going to be straight now.

I am ridiculously pissed off. I was so excited with the way the relationship was going. I can't believe they're taking Hahn off, I was really starting to like her :(

well, it looks like powers-at-be replaced Hahn for an eye candy, Melissa George. :woot: lol

these season's interns cracks me up. they're little Christina but crazier.
luvs it!

I don't know what to think about the Izzie/Dennie interaction. It breaks my heart a little seeing him because we all know he's dead :( He's SO HAWT.

I feel like the story writers are actually going to proceed with the rumored "Izzie has a brain tumor" story line and associate her brain tumor as the cause of her "visions" of Denny.

Am I going nuts or does this actually make sense??

This is the first I have heard about that rumor. I thought she has a thing going on with Alex, then next minute she seems not able to let go of Denny.

It's hard to let anyone you love go, and whatever is going on with her, I wouldn't make it seem like she doesn't care or want what Alex might be giving. She is just having trouble with her heart (and mind) since the magical ghost of the past called Denny decided to show up. Poor girl. :(

December, that rumour would make sense but it's been squashed already by the writers so I don't see it happening.

I can understand Izzie having visions of Denny, but actually being able to touch him and feel him? That's a whoooole other story. And in the preview for next week's episode, it showed Izzie and Denny in some sort of love scene? There must be something behind this whole storyline besides Izzie just having visions...

true...
but you never know ....
however, will be optimistic.
anyhoo.... how about that Melissa George? luvin "Death" and her antics back in med school.

Izzie could possibly have a mental illness but nothing that'd take her off the show.
Hopefully we'll get some sort of conclusion to this mystery next episode - I believe it's the last one Denny is going to appear in if memory serves!

I actually read up on that. I believe Shandra is quoted as to saying, "There is storyline in the works for one of the characters that could very well end in them not living past the season finale.". Then again I read it on ONTD, so it could be completely false. But the way it seems it that she very well could have a tumor, or a mental illness like you stated, katherine.

As of now it sounds like that could be Izzie, but I highly doubt it is. That means some other character is probably going to get the boot. Here is a fairly recent article:

Despite causing quite a stir after blaming poor story lines for her decision to drop out of the 2008 Emmy race, Katherine Heigl is not out at Seattle Grace. In fact, says it has a mind-blowing storyline full of twists and turns all planned out for Dr. Stevens.

“She’s absolutely staying with the show,” ABC programming chief Steve McPherson said Wednesday. “There’s an unbelievable storyline for her this year that’s essential to everything that’s going on with the season.”
It's just weird and contradictory because if Izzie were to have a tumor it would probably mean she is not going to live past the finale like that statement. So I'm guessing that goes for another character? Because according to abc, she is definitely staying put. I believe she said so herself as well. I wonder how everything will pan out if she talks to Alex about what she's been seeing because we know he has a history that's familiar with illness (his mother, rebecca, etc) and would he take Izzie seriously and support her? Or be in denial like he was with Rebecca. I'm excited for next week. :D

And also just a little something from Grey's Writers.
And then, of course, there’s Izzie. Who is clearly still connected to Denny, even beyond the grave…

Here’s what I’ll say about Denny.

I want you to take a moment, and just think for a second. About what you would do if someone you lost, who was unbelievably important to you, suddenly showed up in your room. Right now. While you’re sitting at your computer and reading this blog and suddenly feeling a chill on the back of your neck and hearing, from behind you, in a familiar voice: “Hi.” It’s someone – your lover, your parent, your grandparent, your best friend, your ex-fiancée… someone you thought was gone forever and suddenly now they are right there. Standing next to you. Asking you to talk to them, asking you to hold their hand.

Sure, at first you’d be scared and freaked out and seriously considering the possibility that you might very well be crazy… but in the next moment, what would you do? You have wished every day since that person left that you could see them, touch them, just one more time. What would you do?

I know what I’d do. I’d take my dead dad’s hand. And we’d sit there and stay up all night talking about all the things we never got a chance to talk about. And I wouldn’t care if he was dead or if I was crazy because it would be so great just to hear his voice again.

So, can you imagine, if you were Izzie, what you might do if Denny suddenly appeared to you? And after trying to ignore him, and trying to say goodbye to him, and even after BURNING his fricking sweater, he was STILL there…

All I’m saying is… maybe this is one connection that gets to defy all logic and common sense and, instead, maybe it just gets to be. Even if it does seem too good to be true.
