As expected, grooming, chaste and 'good taste' are taking fashion by a storm..
"G"guy Doug Lloyd is explaining the rise and rise of groomed chic

All this time I thought I was the only one who noticed that the Gucci footwear ad revealed a little too much about the guy in shorts...who knew it was intentional?!

Did anyone else notice (I saw the ad in New York magazine) ?

I think it's only the pendulum swinging the other way. His advertising has been so extreme that the only other direction to take it in is the well groomed, glamourous look. It's about time. On the other hand, I've never seen this tennis ad. Anybody have a link? Now I sound like the perv.

the vogue article is a kind of repost from NYT ..
then the Vogue article was re-posted twice...

obviously we enjoy posting new topics before we check the already posted ones :innocent:

not a bad sport, as long as someone ELSE is running around merging repetetive topics

i think sex and fashion merge perfectly when sex is not exaggerated remember the sexy dior ads with gisele and someone i dont remember then also the ads where the model is suggestive but not in your face sexual.i think they call that sensual???(like last seasons ysl)
Meanwhile the ad posted above with the trench co\at was a disaster she looked too masculine!(sorry abt the offtopic sideline)

the ad posted is the original photo that went with the NYT article.

from what i understand, sex used to sell, it seems it is not working anymore,
it reached its pick with the Gucci G campaign.
those advertising gurus know when to ambandon ship,
remember the guy we are talking about was working for gucci

sex still sells....i think that advertisers are taking a different direction for the same reason the victoria's secret show got cancelled. there's a lot of pressure to tone down the raciness of any kind until there's a change in administration or it becomes a secondary issue.

it's not like seeing a half naked man doesn't still stimulate a particular type of consumer behavior...we haven't evolved passed our own sexualities.

I agree that sex still sells and I believe sex will always sell, it's just a matter of how much. Since fashion world needs constant change and wants to avoid some of the current criticisms, they decide to switch to its more elegant side. Nothing surprising!

I love the energy that goes along with sexy fashion, the kind of sexy that says damn I know I look good because these clothes are so beautiful. i think the "groomed" style is a little boring
