Just recently I discovered Gucci in the pages of a Chinese gossip magazine. I've been researching about her online, but there's just limited information. Do any of you have any bio on her or pictures of her work? If so please post. Thanks :)

Art and Commerce

Her reps. Bio from site:

Makeup artist Gucci Westman has quickly become an integral component of the New York fashion circuit. Teaming up with photographers like Steven Meisel, Mario Testino, Bruce Weber, Peter Lindbergh and Carter Smith, Gucci's work sparkles on the covers of Vogue, W Magazine, Harper's Bazaar and Vanity Fair.

Gucci's fresh, conceptual makeovers have enamored designers such as Behnaz Sarafpour, Bill Blass, Tommy Hilfiger and Richard Tyler- all of them are featuring her looks on their New York runways shows. Her advertising roster of advertising clients continues to expand with new campaigns from the GAP, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and Revlon out this past year.

And despite her move from Los Angeles to New York, Gucci continues her work with celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston, Cameron Diaz, Julianne Moore, Drew Barrymore and Gwyneth Paltrow, who are all among her many regular clients.

thanks, but I've been to the A&C page already and found that information not informative enough. Anyone got pictures to post?

she's now creative director (or whatever the role is called) at Lancome after Fred Farrugia (sp?) left/retired earlier in the year :)

here's the article-

Lancôme names replacement for Fred Farrugia

French beauty brand Lancôme has announced that US-based makeup artist Gucci Westman will replace Fred Farrugia as artistic director for its makeup collections. The first product of the association will be Lancôme’s spring-summer 2005 collection. She will also act as a consultant in the development of the brand’s other makeup products, Lancôme said in a statement. This is Westman’s first collaboration with a beauty brand.

Lancôme announced earlier this week that Farrugia would be leaving Lancôme in April 2004, but declined to name his replacement at the time.

wantmonster, are you sure that pic is of Gucci? because it looks nothing like her. instead it looks like a hairstylist with Erin W

Inspired by the revelation of color, femininity and seduction, Ms. Westman's makeup hobby transformed into a career brimming with experiences as brilliant as her artistry. Her training began in her stint as a fashion journalist, followed by formal makeup education at the prestigious École Chauveau in Paris. To complete her training, she learned artistry techniques and special effects in Los Angeles.

Her innovation and talent were quickly noticed by the fashion and entertainment industry, and her career exploded with international opportunities. Today Ms. Westman is in high demand by prominent magazine editors, photographers including Annie Leibowitz and Steven Meisel and film producers including Spike Jonze. Based in the heart of New York, she continues her significant contributions to the world of beauty, art and fashion.

gucci has a contract with lancome...i think her title is creative director or something...

she chose drew to do this ad with her... :p

She and Drew Barrymore are linked in quite a few things -- I think Ms. Westman is mentioned in the Vogue with Drew on the cover? Regardless, and most importantly for the Westman fans here... she's apparently going to be on MTV Trippin' tonight (4/18) at 10:30, with Cameron Diaz and Drew... I think Trippin is some sort of community service touting show? Maybe she'll demonstrate 'how to mascara in a dangerously escalating situation." Just teasing. ;)

There's an interview with Gucci in the most recent Swedish Elle (sorry if the translation's a bit rough, kinda rushed it:blush: ):

Gucci Westman
Makeup artist Gucci Westman is as appreciated by the stars walking the red carpet as she is by the models on the runway. She's also an international artistic director for Lancôme and this february her first makeup collection for the company, French Riviera, was released.
- I'm not thinking tan when I think about southern France, rather I visualize Grace Kelly's sofisticated face in To Catch a Thief, she says to Elle.
Gucci grew up in Varberg (Guessing most of you have no clue, lol, that's on the Swedish west coast). She wasn't allowed to wear makeup at home, but were given loads of products when working a year as an au pair. The mother in the family got makeup through her work - and Gucci was inspired to pursue a career in beauty. She went to Ecole Chauveau in Paris and studied technology and special effects in Los Angelses. Now she's got the knowledge. Among other things, Gucci was the one who transformed Cameron Diaz beyond recognition in Being John Malkovich. She works with the biggest names, people like Steven Meisel, Annie Leibowitz and Mario Testino.
Celebrities say that they've got you to thank for many great makeup tips. Have you got any from them?
- Gisele taught me the easiest way to get rid of chapped lips. She rubs her lips gently with a warm towel before applying lip balm. And Cate Blanchett showed me that lip enhancing creams really do work. And Demi Moore taught me the best way to use eyedrops. Breathe in through your nose while squeezing the drops into your eyes. That makes the tear canals open so the drops won't run all over your face.
You're traveling 90 per cent of your working hours. Have you got any traveling tips?
- I moisturize constantly during flights. And I change my lotion after a few weeks, because my skin gets used to it. In my opinion, using the same moisturizer every day would be like eating nothing but bananas. And I heard about this new thing I'd like to try: All Japanese beauty directors I know take hot baths for at least 40 minutes, every day. They believe that the heat gets their metabolism going, makes them lose weight and opens their pores to keep their skin clear.
One of your trademarks is perfect skin. What's your secret?
- I apply moisturizer with moisted sponges. Then they won't pull your skin and it makes the product absorb evenly for a better result. Then I put foundation where it's needed.
What was the hardest part when developing you collection for Lancôme?
- The eyeshadows, definitely. I hate it when a shadow looks pretty in the package, but then just disappears on the skin. The best eyeshadows are the ones where what you see is what you get.
What is the most odd request you've recieved?
- To shave a woman's cheeks with a razor. She had a lot of facial hair. Sorry, I won't do that.
Is there a color that suits all?
- Coral lip gloss looks sexy on all women. It makes the lips look available, kissable.

:)

Thanks for having the trouble to translate. I really liked to read that interview. :)

Anyone knows what Ms. Westman is up to lately, besides working for Lancome?
All I heard was that she got married, so her name actually in Westman Neville.

Her recent collection for Lancome, Luna Chic, was a bit boring and un-creative in my opinion. It was actually the first Lancome ltd ed collection I didn't purchase a single item from, ever since I fell in love with the brand after Supernatural in 2003.

She seems to be using the same type of colors over and over and again. I'm looking forward to checking out her next one, Pop Cherub.
