i really love the banana republic one...just round balls all the way can look a little plain and childish? but a touch of carving or a patterned bead here and there makes it really beautiful!

I bought mine at a 2nd hand store at the beginning of the year, so look around in the tiny little crowded shops owned by little old ladies. I'm more inclined to buy antique/old jewelry, so i'm biased against the pricey vintagey necklaces they have in the mall now.

The Banana Republic one is supposed to imitate the look of cinnabar (a red mineral thats often carved to make jewelry, beads, etc.) If you search online, you might be able to find some affordable real cinnabar jewelry from China.
