Haider Ackermann - Designer, Creative Director of Canada Goose & Tom Ford

Lauren so shady why did she need to mention the state of his brand lmfao, but I'm walking
lol its fair to state facts for people that never heard of him makes sense but its funny true

I just hope they let him actually build something in there, trust his vision, and not just be breathing down his neck for sales sales sales from the first season. We don't need another Berluti situation.

I will say what is unpopular but what i truly sense /feel from observing his work so far.

Even if i loved his JPG HC - its a odd choice for TF brand, unless he really pushes his own personal taste to channel what TF stood for and does something new and fresh because drape fashion and oversized lush pants can only go so far . (Haider´s work is very static /whereas TF´s girl is in movement even when her suit is tight she can dance on tables and have a good time )

And equally important to tell a story other than just clothes making techniques or a look, there needs to be world building for a brand to have longevity / permanence in products and brand ideology.

I see so far a bigger change it wont gel , but will reserve true judgement when the show and rest role out nonetheless there will be some buzz leading up to the show that's fun .

I am sure he did a project that Tom liked but than again tom likes also Vaccarello now so i don't trust his judgment any more lol

Very much excited for this! Must admit I'm not all that knowledgeable about the work/aesthetic of Haider Ackermann, but do know he's a very well-respected and admired designer. Major kudos to those at ELC for finding Peter Hawkings' successor in a timely manner too.

Here's looking at you LVMH, shamefully leaving Givenchy this long without a creative director...

That’s such an awkward decision. Don’t get it at all. Haider is the least Tom Ford thing ever. He is pure pretentiousness, takes himself super seriously, super heavy… didn’t see that coming.

Tom Ford is easy, light, sexy, unpretentious, chic, fashion, fun… I don’t know. To me they don’t match at all.

I never liked Haider even if I liked some of the things he did… but was never a love story. He is too intense and try hard intellectual. I really can’t tolerate him much.

Also, I feel HA is craving attention. He accepts whatever. I don’t think it’s an easy brand to design for. First the Canadian Goose thing now Tom Ford. If tomorrow she gets a higher paycheck at Givenchy he’ll go there haha. Although I think no important brand will like to have him. He is 2014 and has nothing else to offer.
Also, pretty much a one trick pony.

I also think business wise it’s not going to flourish… I think he has no commercial eye, he is too boring, too “tortured” (as he would love to be recognized) for this fashion world we are living in. That’s why LVMH didn’t want him. He is not now and I’m sure he won’t make good numbers.

Ahaha the shout outs! 😍
YES! I smiled I soon as I checked my e-mail box with the breaking news from BOF.

Last week i was watching his Berluti shows to see if he can handle Tom Ford menswear. And I was convinced.
His Gaultier proved that he can do something sensual (even if the presentation was somehow a bit pretentious in restrospective).

The power of manifesting!
I campaigned for you Haider!

And FW as his first season! Heavenly!
Now I need to have my body right back for the time the collection hits the stores lol.

I’m very happy and very excited. They are different as a designer but I guess that Tom believed in his vision and his capacity to lead and infuse something new into his brand.

Francesco Russo designed the shoes for his Gaultier show! I hope he will follow him at Tom Ford too!

Now, Haider, it’s your last chance so you better deliver!

PS: it’s kind of hilarious that Haider, much like John Galliano with Margiela, is at the helm of a brand created after his.

leave Haider and Stefano alone!
I don’t know if this is for me and might be an att wh haha, but if they have nothing to offer what can I do… I used to love Pilati in 2006, but his recent work is worse than Kim’s for instance.

I just dont get fashion stans that applaud certain designers no matter what they do… I don’t know what’s the reason behind it but kind of baffles me🙄

One of the last words I'd use to describe Tom Ford is unpretentious.
Yeah, get what you mean, but it’s not intellectual pretentiousness. There’s a lightness to him. He is an egocentric and a narcissist, but I don’t think pretentious is the right word for Tom.

YAY! Finally an appointment that makes sense!!

I saw Haider a befitting candidate to succeed Tom Ford from the very beginning it was announced he would retire, after all, their sense of color, Haider‘s penchant for lush silks and jacquards as well as his air of effortless dandy-ism isn‘t too far off from Tom Ford - I am fully convinced, Tom Ford‘s menswear customer would have also shopped at Haider’s Berluti.

At long last, I can say my gut feeling resonates with the choice of a fashion CEO!

Looking forward to seeing his work for TF! Should be interesting.

I loved what he did for Berluti, but truthfully, really disliked his Gaultier collection. I hope he takes this brand more in the Berluti direction…luxurious, stylish and commercial.
