Hair Salons / Stylists Recommendations New York City ?

I recommend Arrojo Studio...you might know it as the salon where all the "What Not to Wear" makeovers go. I just had my haircut there today with Vincent, and he did a fantastic job. I was very pleased with the customer service. Everyone was genuinely friendly, and there was no air of pretension at all.

Hi,

I just moved to NYC from DC (where I went to O salon). I am used to paying $225 + tips for a cut and partial highlight (the type where they do so many tiny pieces that it takes hours, people actually can't tell you have color for the most part, and it grows out so naturally you can wait 3 months or so for a touch up).

I've asked around and gotten some recommendations here in NY: Jenna at Arrojo studio, Tiffani at Wonderland, JD at Eva Scrivo...but was wondering if anyone has had experience with these stylists? Or has other recommendations that won't exceed $300?

Thanks much.

I've gone to Tiffani at Wonderland a few times. I was in NY through the summer for summer internships and I heard about her because my roommate (male) goes to her. THe salon is really hip (@ 13th and 9th). THey do hair for a lot of celebs but are more known for the models they do (a lot of big names so it was exciting to go there because I love the models). For cut plus color it was about $300. I don't remember exactly but I think just a cut was about $120. I have short hair and I am sorta copying Jacquetta Wheeler's longer choppy pixie/almost bob hybrid. I brought photos since I always do. Tiffani is super nice and I was always satisfied with my cut. THe decor in the salon is darling too. Plus they have artwork shown and a kitschy giftshop type thing. If you go to her, my name is Alice and my roommate is Akbar if she wants to know.
