Hall Ohara s/s 06

I wouldn't wear some of that even if I got paid

that is an absolute disaster imo....

what a waste of space and time and energy...
it almost makes me upset....!

looks like somebody ran into a fabric store...
bought the leftover scraps....
hacked at it all with a pair of scissors....tried to keep it together...
and threw it on a model in the last minute....in an attempt to send it off down the runway and call it a collection...

am i missing something...?!?.....

is there a central idea or an inspiration here somewhere that i just dont get..??...
yuck...!

I love it. I love the prints on the oversizes t-shirts.

Oh gosh....maybe I'm not smart enough to 'get' this? I dunno......I'm just a tad confused!

Hall Ohara, the brainchild of ex-St Martin's students Steven Hall and Yuriko Ohara, have some interesting ideas. Sharing a love of absurdity this design duo explores notions of proportion, adds a touch of surrealism and pushes the result, it has to be said, beyond the limit.

While there is of course room in fashion for the bizarre and/or challenging, if this approach is to be successful on a commercial level the result needs to be wearable or, at the very least, well made. On the first count, Hall Ohara may have a market - in those who like their clothes a roomy size 40 plus. Although on the catwalk these garments were certainly eyecatching, it's a safe bet that the average person in the street will not wish to keep their trousers up by holding on to them or battle through acres of sleeve to find their small change.

On the second point, Hall Ohara really need to pull their socks - and trousers - up. Overlocked edges were left exposed and frayed, and seams puckered under the strain of too-tight stitching.

With a nod to the Dada and Surrealist schools of art, prints include a horse drawn carriage and Duchamps' urinal. Though with workmanship like this it would fair to say that, for now, they're just taking the p***.

**i couldn't have said it better myself.......:innocent:

I looked at the photos again. I must say I like it a lot less. The good ideas aren't executed well at all. They need a better finishing details and perhaps be a bit mure judicious when they cut their patterns. and not be so sloppy

Not only that--it's just blah
it's not even eye grabbing at all..it just looks like a forgettable mistake

i like the t-shirts... and that's about it...

i read a small article about them in NYLON may 2006... thought their stuff looked cool there, but i'm a little disappointed with the rest of the collection

I like some of the white print dresses---I don't see what is so horribly wrong with this collection. It's not something very interesting, but I've seen worse ones this season.
