Harper's Bazaar España December 2016 : Natalia Vodianova by Thomas Whiteside

she looks good but the layout is lazy....what happened with this magazine....people in Spain, any info?

That's brilliant. One of my favourite covers in a while, the styling just fits her to perfection.

No idea, the content is still decent, though.

I think this is gorgeous! I'm such a sucker for red at this time of year and I do love how festive this feels - yet still maintaining their image as a fashion magazine. I'm struggling to find a negative about this cover to be completely honest and think Natalia looks fabulous. Bravo Bazaar Spain!

Lots of good stuff coming from Spain <3

This kind of hair and makeup look wonderful on her.

I find Thomas's whiteside to be such a boring photographer.

Having a digital camera does not make you a photographer....or apparently it does.

He's like Sebastian Faena....attractive enough, gay, knows the right people...but try to describe or put your finger on their "style" or "voice" or their creative perspective.....good luck.

I don't think anything 'happened' to them, they're still miles ahead of Vogue and Elle judging purely by the covers and edits. Put this next to Karlie on Elle and Penelope on Vogue, then tell me which one is the best....

It's nice to have a festive cover, love all the rich reds and the outfit.
I think when you consider who Thomas Whiteside's major clients are, then the boringness of his work makes sense. Harper's Bazaar, Elle, InStyle. He recently did a solid edit for Interview, which was great. I'm more lenient with newer photographers trying to establish a style in this oversaturated field. It's the Testinos and Meisels, who we know to be capable of great work yet couldnt be bothered, who irks me.

for the love of GOD please stop using Full on Saturated backgrounds in every freakin fashion cover/editorial. This recent trend I've noticed is popping up everywhere and starting to wear on my eyes.

I Love the visual impact yes but that kind of visual assault is like the photographic equivalent of ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME. Use it sparingly and wisely. Stop stuffing it down my throat magazine art directors.

With that said this is very festive and a step above US Bazaar (not that that's saying much). However, this doesn't feel like a cover to me, more like the opening thematic page of the editorial portion of a magazine.

Natalia is a unique beauty and the level of Ps is OTT. She looks a bit severe and ghoulish here.

I mean, in the past Hb Spain was more interesting visually....and with all the changes of editors, etc it never been the same....but yes, that "bore" style well executed is attractive, and the graphic design is also lame now...
