Harper's Bazaar México & Latam April 2015: Hanne Gaby Odiele by Xevi Muntané

It had so much potential! I love how quirky the shot looks but I'm not happy with
A. The hair. In the preview it looks good but in here nope.
B. The fake shadow ruined the shot. It's so much better without it.
C. The layout. Is this Esquire?

The preview shot wouldve made a better cover! Mod

idk much about this magazine but this sure looks ugly and she deserves to be featured in better stuff than this

I give Bazaar Mexico props for constantly trying but this is another fail for them.

It´s very ugly: the model to start off with; I mean... Everybody has their favorite models and all but come on who does think this look is attractive? Everything falls apart:
- the girl is neither typically beautiful or editorially interesting
- the clothes look like something old pieces from some lost second-hand shop
- the pose is crazy catalog
- they also went overboard with the colors
- the shadows look incredibly fake
- the layout is a pure mess
and... pff it is really really bad. I truly wonder how the audience dares to buy this, I wouldn´t be caught buying this like ever.

striking image but the layout just ruins the cover imo...

Wow, this is quite vile. What's with her hair and expression? And it feels too, I dunno, close? Didnt we had a recent pop-art cover with Esther Heesch? Time to showcase new trends!

OMG why why WHY the shadows ?? too awkward ! I agree ut ruins the shot. And the text too : was it really necessary ? I understand they wanted to play with her pose and change the display, but it just doesn't work at all. Besides that Hanne looks amazing. Love the styling, and even if the hairstyle made me cringe a little, it's okay :)

They made her look completely crazy. And she's a pretty girl otherwise.

I dont like the shadow either. I guess a more defined, natural one could have helped?

I do like the cover overall. It most definitivelly stands out because of the color and the composition. I even like the fact the hair is so textured...

A lot of people apparently, considering she's been a consistent blue chip runway booker for 11 years, something a very small percentage of models acheive.

No yeah but I didn´t mean as a model per se (although I don´t consider this girl beautiful whatsoever) I meant on this cover because I have seen other print work of this girl and it was O.K. Yes this model has done lots of runways but then again it´s not on their beautiful faces that these girls are booked for fashion shows or judged for that matter. They´re booked for their height, sizes, runway walks and the buzz they are generating.

Great attempt at a cool contemporary cover, but just falls flat in a, not-so-good, retro way.

I'm just fed up with these retro covers, and this edition especially, should get out of that rut. It's a shame Hanne looks so awful because she doesn't book many covers.
