Are you still using this type of a gatefold cover? Its the worst one. Its the easiest to damage and magazine will look like it came from a trashcan very very fast. Not a surprise big magazines not using this one it's terrible

Outdated gatefold aside, I think the cover looks far better with the bronze masthead. Maybe in gold it would have looked even better?

It's market's case. What we sell - that we do. I think in Russia all the big magazines try to sell this type of gatefold and the plain cover is out only in the dead season.

Sure. Everything is better in gold)

I avoid buying magazines when the cover is in gatefold. So irritating! Russian HB does it all the time. Kazakh HB also. Actually a lot of Bazaar editions use this type of advertising, but Vogue never - I think it's not permitted by the license rules.

because all the Russian Vogues I've found have inner gatefold, yea

Yes, Denis, thats what I mean too - outside gatefold. Russian Vogue never used this type. Russian Elle, Bazaar, L'Officiel used this one a decade ago like crazy, i dont pay much attention to russian mags since then so was shocked you are still using it. Its so bad, but cheaper probably? The only thing I think reading magazine with it is how to cut away this annoying part with a cover image. With inner gatefold no problems at all

The only Vogue with this type of gatefold I remember is Vogue Germany December 2002 with Jeisa

I'm sure, that's about the ads, inner gatefold is 3+1 and the outer is 2+2. I think our clients prefer 2 pages instead 3

Both are nice but two almost identical eds by same photographer in one issue? And at a time when you have nothing decent to reprint from American Bazaar. And a few upcoming covers will be by her again I guess... Russian Bazaar was extremely boring when Alaverdyan was there - half of original eds was styled by her and the other half was photographed by her and all issues felt like its the same one again and again and again
