**i'm really not sure where to put this topic.....so please feel free to move it.....
...
just thought i'd share a little about one of my favorite architects.....harry seidler.... born in vienna....he arrived in australia in 1948 after studying at the harvard school of design, black mountain college in north carolina, and under marcel breuer in new york and oscar niemeyer in rio de janeiro....
the geometric curve is a recurring theme in his work.....lots of abstract, asymmetrical, balanced patterns, influenced by the european art movements of the 1920s and 1930s..... harry is considered to be australia's finest architect of the modern movement....
he based himself in sydney in 1948.....his first house was the rose seidler house in 1948.....a glass walled, elevated cubiform house which was revolutionary for the time....pictures to follow....
(abc.net.au)
....i just find something very peaceful about his work......its modern without being sterile.....inspired and lively.....his concepts and shapes were virtually unheard of in australia at the time....a real visionary......his work is timeless....
i hope you enjoy.....

"When people just use the technology in a routine sort of dull way, they just use it as a tool, not give it particular thoughts, and that's 99% of all buildings that get built. But when something just goes over the step and there's something that raises the spirit - that people suddenly feel, "Isn't this great to be in? Isn't this wonderful to look at?" - that's a threshold that is rarely bridged. Sydney really is an enticing physical environment. The sun shines better than anywhere else in the world."
