CONFESSIONS OF A MODEL SNOB: RUNWAY REPORT
After a whirlwind four (ish) weeks, Fashion Month has ended. We’ve witnessed outstanding showings in New York, London, Milan and Paris, the “big four” weeks of the season. Now, as other cities around the world gear up to show off their most talented designers, I’d like to take a step back from the clothing and discuss who’s wearing it: the models.
The models are my favorite part of the fashion world. The way that designers choose which beautiful women (and they are all beautiful) will showcase their designs (which faces match the designer’s aesthetic, whose shoulders look the best in a certain gown, etc.) has fascinated me ever since I started watching America’s Next Top Model. I scour fashion news sites hoping to hear the latest news on which supermodel is walking for which designer, who is opening the shows and closing them and who has simply fallen out of fashion. With the shows in Paris coming to a close, I thought it was the perfect time to discuss my favorite models from this season.
HEDVIG PALM
Things are going well for this Swedish model. At the age of 19, she has already landed herself on the Top 50 Models list on models.com. This season alone she walked in 57 shows including Kenzo, Chloe, Elie Saab and Balenciaga. Hedvig’s strong brows may remind you of Cara Delevingne, but that’s where the similarities end. Cara’s wild child personality makes her relatable, while Hedvig tends to give off a more solemn, mysterious vibe in her photos and on the runway. When you look at her she is instantly interesting, if only because you can’t quite tell what she’s thinking, or what she’ll do next. Represented by agencies in six cities around the world, Hedvig’s presence in the modeling industry doesn’t seem to be fading any time fast
