SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE star Freida Pinto has been cast in Greek mythology adventure War of the Gods, which director Tarsem Singh is set to start filming in April.
The 25-year-old will play oracle priestess Phaedra, who accompanies young warrior Theseus (Henry Cavill) as he leads his men into battle with the immortal Greek gods to defeat the elder deities of the Titans in order to save mankind.
The Relativity Media project is being produced by Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton, who previously partnered on Zack Snyder's 300, along with Ryan Kavanaugh. It will be released through Universal.
In its report on the latest casting news, Variety added that Jason Keller penned the most recent draft of the script, which was originally written by Charley and Vlas Parlapanides two years ago.
A recent article in the Montreal Gazette, which claimed 3D was being considered for the film, said the $115million film was now known as Dawn of War. It's also listed with that name on Internet Movie Database. It was scheduled for release this year but, with filming only getting under way in April, it's more likely to be coming out in 2011.
