Hermès Mens F/W 07.08 Paris

Wasn't the red croc jacket last winter $145,000? Or was that just someone's exaggeration? Either way, I'd sell someone else's right arm for that particular piece.

Well I've once tried one that was 50 K (eur) but I don't know which one you are talking about... 100k must be for the floor-lenght ones. Anyway it's certainly not 3000 haha.... (I add that it's extremely NOT comfortable, nor pratical)

Ilaughead: I knew they had some silk+cashmere scarves for men, but this is the first time I hear about smaller silk scarves - I've never seen then in store. Can you check the catalogue for me :flower:  ? I always feel ackward when I wear my full scarves because it's too long/big for a men but these ones (the white ) will be around my neck next winter!

Okay, I just looked it up and I guess I was wrong. The only silk scarves in there are called "H 70 [something french]", so I think that means they are 70cm x 70 cm. These must be the long, thin women's scarves. Twillys? I think that's what they're called?

Ilaughhead, the croc trench was around 150k. Absolutely amazing.

Why are the clothes so ridiculously expensive? Is the quality THAT GOOD? Or is the obvious, "you are paying for the designer name" problem?

The quality is SICK. But it is also having the prestige of having and wearing Hermes.

^Ilaughead: No no no, the twillys are wayy smaller and thinner, I have a couple of them and the result is absolutely not the same. Mystery there... You may be right with the 70*70 cm scarves... women's carrés are 90*90... but the scarves you are mentionning are cashmere/silk mix, or at least i've never seen a pure silk scarves with this size...

^Crakk: Hermes' prices are kind of justified most of the time... french wormanship is VERY expensive (much more than italian's for example). They have their own farms... a product with a single flaw is destroyed... plus Hermès discontinued a lot of "cheaper" items (the canvas bags for example) just to keep their "luxury" statut. And, of course, even no-name crocodile is very expensive, just like, say, fur...
But when I hold a croc birkin I'm always kind of surprised when I realise it almost cost half of my car so...

I think the 70x70 scarves are like this one from the Spring '07 show, but I don't know what the fiber content is.

Hermès leather jackets are made by Seraphin (a leatherworking company owned by Hermès), just thought I'd contribute that since I've seen some love for the leather coats in this thread. I guess you might be lucky and find some Seraphin on ebay or a second hand store for less than Hermès since it is a lot more obscure.

Yes, Hermès spent a lot to buy glove-makers, silk factories, crystal factories (Saint Louis), Shoes makers (John Lobb), french dish factories, etc etc because they do want the craftmanship to be perfect (and under control)

Just like Chanel bought Lemarié (feathers), Lesage (embroideries), etc etc

To be precise they own John Lobb Paris not John Lobb....but you're right the whole point is to have the craftmenship in-house, so to speak.

Those stripe garments! I gotta have those! aghhhhh! What are they going to cost me? 1k? 2k?

Is Hermes runway even attainable? Is it even available in stores?
