VERONIQUE NICHANIAN kept it classic for spring/summer 2006 but injected just enough originality to keep the young, hip, rich crowd interested. Polo shirts, cardigans and trousers appeared in a faded palette of pale green, grey and taupe while a subtle mix of prints - fine floral printed shirts worn with barely-there striped ties over tiny Prince of Wales check trousers - gave the collection a little edge. The French designer also refused to conform to the day and night aspects of a man's wardrobe - adding a satin stripe to cotton trousers and luxurious shawl collars to single breasted black suits. Classic, with a twist. (July 3 2005, PM)
