High Waisted Jeans #1

i was looking at an old 1978 pair of high waist straight leg jeans from sergio velente , they were tight but the, leg was a slim boot (17 inch leg) ,with chalk stitching and 11 inch rise ,they look much more sleek and sexier . I have always been a fan of high rise wider legs because they evoke a more innocent care free period and it has an imposing silhouette which i like and the long look esp with heels it creates . If you look at old french elle mags you alway see models wearing these braided high waist jeans with snug tees and blouses and smiling ............

I saw my first pair of high-waist jeans that weren't skinny during my Black Friday action! These were some back pocketless indigo blue jeans with a bootcut feel to them. To me, it was a breath of fresh air to see some high-waist non-skinny jeans. At least seeing high-waist bootcut jeans is much better to my eyes than seeing something like this:

"Woman in late 80's early 90's jeans..... so sexy!!!" (from: YouTube )

Yes... typical '80s, early '90s ugliness. Yet more femmes love these than any high waist non-skinny jean...

Well, that's what you get when you praise '80s or early '90s fashion. Terrible fashions in which nobody says a damn thing as to how horrid it all looks.

I was watching "Dude, Where's Your Style?" on the Style network, and the beautiful host Jeannie Mai sported some high-waist skinny jeans in one scene. It was paired with a dark gray cropped vest and this frilly and feminine magenta top. If you're going to be on Style, best to look fabulous, and she was just that in sporting high-waist jeans. I'm very uneducated on who makes what kind of pants. I haven't yet learned to tell designers by their fashions and how they are distinctive from another. But I've seen some high-waist skinnies I actually like.

you changed your mind lool , with the mid driff looking coming back, I want to get cropped tops , sort of like what you see in soul train lines from the mid 70s , I love the look of high waisted wide leg jeans and caban tops ......but I would make it edgy with bangles and wear edgy tops

I am not a big fan of high-waisted jeans. When I enter a store and see a whole rack filled with high-waisted jeans, I know that section is not for me.

I go straight to the low ridaaaaaaa :)

Low rise jeans that are straight or skinny. MY FAVORITE!

Lee-Sarah, you're the first one "brave" enough to favor low-riding jeans rather than the high-waisted jeans in this thread. Lots of femmes in this thread would say that at least high-waisted jeans are better than having embarassing moments with low-riding jeans. It's taken me a bit to be acclimated to high-waist bottoms. As I always say, think Katy Perry as far as sporting high-waist bottoms.

And no, I haven't truly changed my mind on skinny high-waist jeans. Always remember that for trends and looks I've crashed, there will almost always be some sort of exception.

i think they can be cool---but i wouldn't wear any one style every single day...
it sis fine to go groery shopping in, with tight tee, all 70s style (charlie angels)
much prefer skirts/dresses/trouers for going out

^^^^ yeah its boring ..........but one thing is for sure i have moved on from low rise bottoms for the most part .

The biggest fashion faux pas last month occured when k! Magazine shown off pictures of Jessica Simpson sporting some dreaded "Mom jeans." High-waist jeans can be tasteful when done and worn right. I'm not trying to sound like I dislike high-waist jeans because I do support and respect high-waist jeans. Just showing off an example of what certain high-waist jeans can look when it all goes wrong. High-waist jeans will have to fit and have the same amount of charm as a pair of regular-length jeans, and accentuate that more when you introduce a high waist design.

I haven't seen too many high-waist jeans lately, but I have grown more fond of the high waist, especially for those who can pull this look off.

high-waist jeans are very hard to pull off. a great body is a must! i do love them though.

those grey ant carpenter jeans arent very nice looking , high waist jeans should be simple , people wore them in the 70s and 80s and they looked great , jessica is a bit too petite , I have 5 pairs of high waist jeans , i love them all ........

I love my high waisted jeans they are so perfect... Skinny leg and really high waisted!

does anyone have that stella mccartney, high waisted denim romper image? I can't find one.

The entire outfit Jessica was wearing was extremely unflattering. High waist jeans especially this pair weren't for her body type.

I was just watching "The Daily 10" on E! a few minutes ago. Apparantely, I learned it was Level 99 that designed those jeans. The high-waist jeans were commonly called "mom jeans" in the segment. I'm like... okay! We get it! She wore a bad pair of high-waist jeans. Just don't continually poke fun of one of my fellow Texans, Jessica Simpson! Maybe that's the life of a celebrity. Some will always remember for you what you do WRONG rather than what you do right.

i bought but then returned a pair of high waisted jeans a few years ago and haven't touched them since... i've been tempted for quite some time to buy a pair but i feel that i would have to work harder to style them to fit them into my wardrobe so i've never really gotten a pair. that and the fact that i'm 5 feet tall; a bit short for high waisted jeans.

and as for those leve 99s... i remember my short and rather round (ex) boss at anthropologie wearing them almost everyday and it was not a flattering look.

What I've noticed is that the high waisted jeans that have been sported recently (with the buttons that button all the way up) have been out for awhile now (to what I've noticed) but jeans that are simply designed high waisted (without the intentional 6 extra buttons) are definitely in favor again.
