July 1, 2004 – Canter culture is a favorite source of fashion inspiration, and the fall collections were rife with equestrian references. Ann Demeulemeester roughed up the jodhpur with some dark Night Porter-style decadence. For his debut at the horse-worshipping house of Hermès, Jean Paul Gaultier sent out top hats and full skirts suitable for latter-day equestriennes. Helmut Lang pinned thick, swishing tails on pumps, bangles, and sandals to make his point. The horse-blanket striped ponchos at Chloé and the hand-painted horse-head leather jacket at Luella, meanwhile, deserve a winner's circle all their own.

Color guard: can't-miss-'em hues at Hermès.

Saddle bags: Ann Demeulemeester's generous jodhpurs.

Puff daddy: Giorgio Armani's jodhpurs.

when i saw the Hermes runway looks it took me back to the Micheal Kors Fall 2001 RTW show. It always has been one of my favorite shows of all. I love the equestrian looks!

Regardless I say great trendspotting Amelie and I agree though I'm not sure this look has mainstream appeal other than the tucking jeans into boots thing.

i love the equestrian look. it was in a few years ago and i fell in LOVE with the prada saddle bags. ralph lauren's collection then was fabulous as well..

i love the looks from gucci, stella, and DKNY. i also loved the luella boots. that's one of my favorite looks from the equestrian look, the high boots over pants.

Aww I love this look. I don't think I'd be able to pull of the jodhpurs with boots, though. I think jodhpurs with heels would look great.
