People are saying it's too much. I thought it wasn't enough.
Take away the crazy earings and focus just on the clothes and it feels like Henry's tried to be more grown up this season. His fans may well travel with him but I think they'll be less excited about this collection than previous ones.
I doubt Henry will ever be a technical designer, certainly not a conceptual one. In a way he's a bit like a younger Marc Jacobs, essentially a stylist and a chronicler of the times, a channeler of sub-cultures. I don't think he should try to become Decarnin or even Richard Nicoll. He does what he does well but this season I'm not sure. Although sometimes you do find yourself catching up to Henry later I guess because he does have quite a niche influence and has had, up til now, a legion of fairly cool followers. The jury is out.
