how to make kohl stay on longer?

What? Like an actual ink pen? Or are you talking about a pencil liner instead of liquid liner?

Here's a crazy trick I picked up from a couple of goths back in the day, use hairspray. Yup, that's right, hairspray. Use a tiny bit over where your liner is (or where your eyeshadow is also). Just be sure to keep your eye closed, because it hurts like a b*tch if it gets in your eye. It also keeps your makeup in place if you sweat.

The active ingredient in BeneFit She-Laq is the same active in hairspray; a film former (PVP or PVA/PVM, or something like that). It places an invisible, plastic like shield over the skin (or hair) that holds everything in place.

And one more weird recommendation: I've heard runway makeup artists use actual aerosol hairspray over the model's entire face to set the makeup in place (so it won't smudge under the lights). I cannot confirm that to be true, though.

I read that a light fine dusting of powder should keep your eyeliner in place. Pease dont use hairsprays, they are dangerous!

I think Morganalestrange:p was asking about eyeliner that will last on the inner rim of the eye, correct? If so, Prestige makes THE BEST waterproof eyeliners. They are about 3 bucks at the drugstore and they are dark, they last and do not smudge much!

yeah right i meant the inner rim :/ sorry my english is not the best
so a waterproof eyeliner seems logical but how do i remove it? i mean eye make up remover isn't all that.....nice for getting eyeliner of the inner rim i guess or am i mistaken in that one?

You can remove it with anything that is oil-based -- Shu Uemura cleanser works well (it is basically mineral oil), cold cream will work (again, mineral oil) . Any oil & water eye makeup remover will work and has a lighter consistency, better IMO than oil alone for the eye area. I like Almay's Dual Phase, which is a cheaper version of Lancome's Bi-facil. Just shake it up, dip a cotton bud into the remover and wipe off the line:flower:

if you want something to stay on all day on the inner rimes of your eyes, TRY A GEL EYELINER!

i just made the transition from using pencils and CONSTANTLY needing to reapply throughout the day for about 2 years now, and TRUST me, almost any gel eyeliner will stay better put than any pencil.
right now ive only used MACs fluidlines and they stay exactly put for about a good 12 hrs. but im really interested in trying bobbi brown's because from what i hear, they stay on foever

If you are putting the khol under your lower lashes (as in not you water line) the best way to make it stay is set it with some black eyeshadow.

it's really hard to get stuff that will stay smudgy/smoky and permanent, but there definitely are plenty of eyeliners that last the night and plenty of it is actually the cheapy drugstore kind. sometimes using a really permanent/bold liquid liner as a base helps, since then the colour remains and your touchups are more about fixing the shape/shading. i have luck with:

l'oreal wear infinite waterproof + revlon colorstay
maybelline waterproof liquid eyeliner (like $5. and amazing.)
mac liquidlast eyeliner -- this does NOT come off. i use this and then a dustier eyeshadow or pencil over it, it makes a nice dark base and then you can just touch up the stuff you put on top.

brushing powder (of the same sort you put on your face) on your eyelids before you apply makeup helps a lot also, as do 'eye makeup bases.'

I use the Lancome Kohl eyeliner, it never smudges for me, but that could just be the way my eyes are... The Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner will stay forever. No smudging at all. Gives the same effects as a Kohl if you know how to apply it well.

I love to put kohl in my inner rims, and yes black kohl do make the eyes look smaller but i have been using this trick that i learnt few years ago and they make my eyes look amazing...i just use black kohl for my upper inner rim and for my lower rim i use from brown, blue, purple or even green anything that is lighter than black, it makes your eyes look bigger and exotic, it attracts attention to the eyes. I've been using Mac Smolder for my upper inner rim i keep hearing from people here that its not their fave product, but it is mine. I also have used Stila in Onyx, very dark deep black but i use it in my upper inner rim, so i dont really suffer from the smudge side effect.
Also if your looking for a great eyeliner a liquid eye liner, Nars has just launched these AMAZING stylo eye liners, i bought all three colours, green, black and brown and i have no complaints what so ever.

I also found that when you use two different kohls for your inner rims, and u use the colours that complaint your eye colour it sorta makes it glow in a way. I have dark brown eyes, and when i use the combo black/purple or black/teal it makes my eyes pop and has this twinkle shine, i dont know how to explain it but it really nice:flower:

If you want your eyeliner to stay on, just apply some powder eyeshadow in the same color of your eyeliner. It works, I do this when applying eyeliner on my waterline and it stays put even there.
