Huaraches Sandals Trend, Coming or Going?

In the past 5 years Huarache sandals have been proposed by many fashion designers, but as they continue to inspire even the big fashion labels....

is the trend for this woven footwear destined to peak or fade?

The commercial success of Huaraches in the 80's first inspired Hush Puppies.

More recently Jeffery Campbell revived this footwear style and was followed by a long list of fashion labels from around the world.

Brands that included the worlds oldest fashion house Lanvin that introduced a line of woven Huaraches in their Summer 2011 collection.

Newcomers like Armando Cabral

and established designers like Giuseppe Zanotti alike, presented their Huarache design interpretations as this Italo-Thai colaboration for Thakoon.

Tory Burch.

Dolce and Gabbana.

úkata...The list goes on.

This season Crocs has also released a Huaraches line of womens footwear.

So what about next season in 2014? Will Huaraches continue to be commercial?

i agree that this has been bubbling for awhile...
specifically thinking of givenchy...

and i am finally seeing them on the street this season...
not sure how long it will last, but i do think it has finally arrived...

I think it will stay more with males. I went to see my dad last week and I was surprise seem him with some Huarache sandals very similar to those Dolce's but from aldo lol.

Those Crocs ones don't look like huaraches at all. They're almost embarrassing.

Some of these shoes and sandals look worse than most gladiator sandals. I'm about to have lunch shortly, and seeing some of these shoes may have ruined my appetite a bit. Some of the feminine heels look alright here. But for the most part, some of these shoes look better burned to the ground rather than on peoples' feet.

The selection wasn't intended to be an example of the latest or best Huaraches to be critiqued. But more of a conversation piece as to whether this Mexican inspired footwear still has potential and if a Huarache trend might be picking up.

I feel that with crafted product becoming increasingly popular, Huaraches might surf that craft wave.

I like them a lot, especially as they are hand woven and typically rustic and historical.

I'm interested in how people feel towards such a strong aesthetic and often rustic style of footwear.

Am I the only one intrigued by this old world style?
