Seung-Hyun or "Hyoni" is Ford's Supermodel of the World 2008.

LYF - Thank you so much for starting a thread for her. She's one of the best winners they've had in awhile!

I love the juxtaposition between that tart look behind her eyes, and the softness of her jawline and lips. Hopefully she'll be as well received in the industry as she has been on tFS.

I think this is my first model thread ever  but she's very cute. Good pick by Ford. ^_^

Ford is going global. Wants to set up Ford Asia ...perhaps, picking her to win has something to do with it too ...

*she's got a personality, so it helped her overall ...

Comes across well in photos, but I'm not blown away by her at all. Reminds me of Laragh really.

Such a beautiful dress I could cry.

I'm not too impressed but i'm not surprised either. I'll have to see some tests to really decide but for now i'm neutral. It is FORD so it's more likely their faces will be more commercial looking. And Sethii, I can see the Laragh connection too! I think it has to do mostly with the shape of her body.

For me it's in her eyes and mouth :D

But it looks like she has some short short legs  which is why we're not allowed to see them in any photos?

The winners, or a few of them anyway, have already been added to the board.

Hyoni's listed as 5'10, 32-24-35

I think she's gorgeous. She reminds me of Eugenia Mandzhieva in a way.

From the Style File blog over at Style.com:
make me a supermodel

Korea's Seung-hyun Kang catwalked to the grand prize in last night's Ford Supermodel of the World finale, beating out 48 other girls for the 250K Ford modeling contract. In an industry where you can count the successful Asian faces on one hand, Kang's victory (she's Ford's first Far East winner) will hopefully open doors for more girls like her. Now in its 28th year, the Ford Supermodel contest was the original platform for unknown faces to compete for a chance to pursue their modeling dreams. How does it stay relevant in the face of countless "make me a model" programs? The company launched its own series of televised contests in 21 countries last year, including Korea, where girls competed to represent their country in the finale. But don't expect Ford winners to go the way of television's other top models—contracts have been awarded to past contestants Chanel Iman (on hand last night to present Kang with her contract), Camilla Finn, and Adriana Lima.

It's nice to see Hyoni (or Seung-Hyun) getting all this public attention. On a more personal level I'm already counting the days until she can be known as the 2008 Supermodel of the World, rather than the first Asian winner of the contest.

She's included in Ford's show package for New York Fashion Week FW2008.:)

Also, fashionista.com mentions she's 19.
